¶ … transfer from XXX University School to YYY University because I believe that YYY University offers a cosmopolitan environment to various bodies of students. I am a 21-year female from AAAA, visited in the United States in year 2001 for getting higher education. While I planned to get my education from New York University, but because of the 9-11th devastation in New York due to the terrorist attack, on the insistence of my parents, I entered Boston University, School of Management.
Though I hoped that eventually I would transfer to New York University, because I knew that New York University would be the best choice for my educational and as well career goals. It is well know that New York University offers a highly rigorous curriculum in business. More importantly, New York provides a vivacious and cosmopolitan environment and evokes a high level of belongingness for all -- natives, foreigners, locals, and American citizens.
A entered in Boston University in Fall 2001. After couple of semesters I was diagnosed with ADHD, resulting two bad grades. However, I was determined to do better and finally was able to control my ADHD with the help of my doctors, following a highly controlled regimen. In the senior level, I received three A- grades. At this time, however, I did not attempt to transfer, because my treatment in the University Hospital at Boston University was not yet completed.
Although I am highly motivated, strong-minded, and energetic woman, somehow, I am finding that Boston University does not suit to my loneliness, as most of the students are American and the environment seems more like that of small American town. In contrast, I have heard through my friends as well as researched my own that New York University consists of diverse bodies of students from almost all parts of the world. I believe that in this kind of environment I would be a good fit and would even do better in my education.
As may be clear from above, my main weakness lies in my loneliness. Somehow before moving to the United States, I never imagined the pain of the loneliness. Because in my home country I always lived in a large family, where each one was able to share responsibilities and rewards, presently in Boston I miss these occasions. By nature I am a team-person and like to work in collaboration; I believe that New York University, and especially, New York offer me several such opportunities to share responsibilities and rewards.
