Justification to Hire a Spanish Translator in Mexico for US Based Employees Working in Mexico City The language barrier is often easily overlooked in project management because there are so many other vital concerns that could impact the project—from safety issues to the supply chain. However, the language barrier should receive as much consideration as any other issue because language is so essential to proper communication, planning, and managing of assets and capital.

If wrongly handled, it can lead to severe complications and thousands of dollars lost in work that must be redone because of failure in communication resulting from the language barrier. For this reason, it is vital that management hire a translator to translate English to Spanish and Spanish to English for U.S. employees engaging with Mexican vendors and contractors working onsite for projects in Mexico. Indeed, in the past, vendors and U.S. employees in charge of projects in Mexico have been negatively impacted by the language barrier.

Because of a failure to properly communicate or understand the scope of the project or the work agreed upon between contractors, vendors and U.S. employees, time and money have been wasted. Having a translator onsite can help simply as a risk management tool: the translator reduces the risk of miscommunication occurring onsite. The translator enables all stakeholders to understand one another adequately by making certain that the message being said on one side is delivered in a language that the other side comprehends.
