Abstract

This is a brief introduction to global warming. Global warming, also called climate change, is a phenomenon that not only is a threat to other species but also has the potential drastically change the climate so that it has severe and negative consequences for the human population of the planet. The definition of global warming is as follows: The gradual increase in the temperature of the earth's atmosphere, believed to be due to the greenhouse effect caused by gases, such as Carbon Dioxide emissions from burning fossil fuels or from deforestation, which trap heat that would otherwise escape from Earth; a type of greenhouse effect. Global warming, which is at least partly due to the rising concentrations of greenhouses in the atmosphere, is generally noted by primary source of greenhouse gases which is carbon dioxide (CO2).

U.S. Cuba Culture

Cultural Differences between the U.S. And Cuba

The role of culture in society has become increasingly important as the United States continues to spread its influence around the globe. Developing a sense of cultural awareness represents a type of knowledge that can be useful in mitigating sources of conflict. In the military cultural factors have been a critical, yet mostly unexamined, aspect of missions conducted in Africa and the Middle East since the end of the first Gulf War in 1991 and cultural factors played an important, but usually unacknowledged, role in shaping the scope of the United States' humanitarian intervention in Somalia during the 1990s[footnoteRef:1]. However, there has been a growing awareness that cultural awareness is a critical success factor that needs to be further developed because it can serves as a critical success factor in dealing with other nations. Cuba and the U.S. have a long history of political and cultural tensions which are exhibited by the longstanding trade embargo that has been issued against Cuba. The embargo is not only a source of tension between the U.S. And Cubans, nearly every nation that is a member of the United Nations has consistently voted to lift the embargo except Israel and one other country. The cultural differences between the countries are probably the best example of polar opposites that can be found in the hemisphere; especially in regard to individualism.

The U.S. represents one of the most individualistic countries on Earth. U.S. citizens are far more likely to be more self-reliant and individualistic that most other countries. Other cultures that share high levels of individualism can be found in such countries as the U.K., Canada, and Australia. The U.S. also has a high level of masculinity. High levels of masculinity would be illustrated by more distinct gender a role which also leads to many females exhibiting more masculine characteristics than females in cultures with lower masculinity scores. There is a greater division between the roles of the sexes that are inherent in the culture.
