Wellness Wonders: Cultivating Wholeness in Our School Community!

Greetings Families!

We invite you to join us at our annual "Wellness Wonders" community event on August 1, 2023 from 3pm to 5pm at the Library Center, where we will be teaching about the overall wellness of our students and their families. We believe that the well-being of our children extends beyond the classroom, and that a healthy body, mind, and spirit contribute to academic success and personal growth (Hargreaves & Shirley, 2021; Woloshyn et al., 2019).

This year, we have an array of exciting booths, presentations, and activities, all dedicated to supporting various aspects of wellness.

SCHOOL DEPARTMENTS

1. The Guidance Department will offer valuable information about mental health support, stress management techniques, and resources for counseling services.

2. The Science Department will be showcasing exciting ways in which science contributes to wellness with demonstrations on healthy eating an the benefits of exercise on the brain.

3. The Physical Education Department will be hosting interactive physical activities to promote fitness and show how fun regular exercise can be.

SCHOOL ORGANIZATIONS

2. The Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) will be sharing ways in which parents can become more involved in the school community to support for our children.

3. The Student Health Club will display their projects on topics such as nutrition, mental health, and physical fitness to promote wellness in our school.

COMMUNITY RESOURCES

1. The Local Library will be there to provide information on their homework assistance programs, reading clubs, and digital resources available for our students.

2. Community Health Clinic will be offering free health check-ups and consultations. They will also be distributing resources about affordable healthcare options and upcoming health events.

3. The Food Bank will share details about their services and demonstrate how families can access nutritious food and support in times of need.

At-Home Activities to Support Well-being

1. Family Fitness Challenges: Set up a monthly challenge such as a set number of steps to walk, bike rides to take, or a dance-off to keep everyone moving.

2. Mindfulness Moments: Dedicate a few minutes each day for quiet reflection or meditation.

3. Healthy Recipe Swap: Each week, have a family member choose a healthy recipe to prepare and enjoy together.
