Topic: The Deity of Christ
You needed to choose two classmates dealing with different topics/views among themselves and also different from your own.
I. Give the name of the view against the full deity of Jesus Christ presented by your classmate (include your classmate’s name for reference).
As Michael points out, Christian Science is the view against the full deity of Jesus Christ. Although Christian scientists do believe in the trinity, and of course in God, and even in Jesus Christ as the Messiah, Christian Scientists do not follow Biblical truths.
II. Provide your own response to these objections. Use your own arguments, they must not be the same as the ones used by your classmates.
Christian Science is an outlier for a reason. Not only does the organization have a warped view of the trinity, it also has a distorted view of Jesus. According to an official Christian Science website, “Christian Science teaches that Jesus embodied the divinity of God but that he himself was not Deity,” (First Church of Christ Scientist, 2010, p. 1). Another issue is that Christian Science does not even believe in Heaven and Hell, instead presenting these as “states of mind,” (First Church of Christ Scientist, 2010, p. 1). Christian Science also does not believe in a Judgment Day, which is clearly against Biblical truths.
III. Give and Explain At least one key bible verse directly stating the full deity of Christ. above (verses should be in the following format “John 3:18; Acts 1:8, Proverbs 16:1”). It is a good idea to consult two or more commentaries.
“For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form,” (Colossians 2:9). Clearly, this passage shows that even though Jesus was in “bodily form,” He was “the fullness of the Deity.”
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God,” (John 1:1). This passage shows how Jesus is the Word, who is not just “with God,” but is also equated with God, the “Word Was God.” The language is clear.

IV. Give the name of the view against the full deity of Jesus Christ presented by your classmate (include your classmate’s name for reference).
As Cindy points out, Mormons have distorted views on the full deity of Jesus Christ. Mormons believe that Jesus is “the Only Begotten Son in the flesh,” (John 3:16), and that Jesus did fulfill Old Testament prophesies. On these points, Mormonism is correct. However, Mormonism also believes that Jesus was “fully human,” and even that “ Jesus inherited mortality, the capacity to feel the frustrations and ills of this world, including the capacity to die,” (“What Mormons Believe About Jesus Christ,” n.d.).
V. Provide your own response to these objections. Use your own arguments, they must not be the same as the ones used by your classmates.
Jesus cannot simultaneously be mortal and immortal; such a view makes no sense. Clearly, the Bible identifies Jesus with the Father. Jesus is God, and He and God are one. Mormonism has an inconsistent theology. Also, Mormonism believes that “the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost are separate and distinct personages, that They are one in purpose,” (“What Mormons Believe About Jesus Christ,” n.d.). This is an interesting but not fully accurate interpretation, given that several Bible passages clearly equate Jesus with the Father and the Holy Ghost. The trinity is three in one, not three separate beings with the same purpose.

VI. Give and Explain At least one key bible verse directly stating the full deity of Christ. above (verses should be in the following format “John 3:18; Acts 1:8, Proverbs 16:1”). It is a good idea to consult two or more commentaries.
“Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my God!” (John 20:28). Here, Thomas greets Jesus using two phrases. One, he calls Jesus “Lord,” but then he clarifies that ambiguous title by making sure to call Jesus “God.” No one would blaspheme against God unless it were true that Jesus was actually God.
“ I and the Father are one.” (John 10:30). The oneness of Jesus and the Father is clearly explicated here in simple terms.
