¶ … Forward My dream job is in health care management. I am pursuing this right now because I feel that it meets all of my criteria for a dream job. The first thing that I want a job for is security, and healthcare management offers me that. According to the Occupational Outlook Handbook, healthcare management pays well, and the growth rate is much faster than average. If there is rising demand, and the field is relatively specialized, that means I will have considerable freedom over my future with this job. The median pay in 2012 was $88,580 per year, and the growth rate is 23% over the next decade, with an expected 73,300 new jobs (BLS, 2015). With that in mind, I feel that this is a career that provides a lot of security for me going forward.

But the dream job is not just about security. I want to do something that I love. I want a job that I look forward to everyday. Security is sort of a baseline thing that has to be there, but I also know that if I hate my work, my life will be worse off for...

Healthcare is an industry that has deep value to me. It is an industry that is about helping people, and that is what drew me to healthcare in the first place. There are many places to make money, but doing it while helping people in their hour of need is something that makes me feel good, and I want to be a part of that. So I have a lot of intrinsic motivation with respect to health care, and want to participate in the industry in a way that allows me to meet my other needs as well.
It is probably worth mentioning that money and security are only some of what I want. I see my dream job as pursuing whatever I want, and there's really only one way that I can do that. If I have a career that allows me the flexibility to chart my life's course, that is the sort of job that I am looking for. I feel that if I have the financial flexibility, and the ability to live anywhere that I want, I will be able to carve a much better path for myself than by any other means.
