Why I Want an MBA

¶ … career? Completing the MBA program will build on my existing bachelor's degree of business administration in marketing and provide me with the professional credentials I need to continue my relationship building with key members of the Kuwaiti financial services industry. In addition, completing the MBA program will provide me with the enhanced business acumen that is needed to compete effectively in the 21st century marketplace as well as the ability to apply what I have learned from the course work in the workplace.

Finally, from a strictly pragmatic perspective, completing the MBA program will also help me earn far more over the course of my career than I could likely earn otherwise and allow me to contribute to organizational success in more meaningful ways. What are your strengths and achievements? My strengths include superior interpersonal skills as well as being a diligent, honest and enthusiastic employee. Moreover, I can speak, write and read English and Arabic fluently.

Further, I have extensive experience in applying information technology solutions to a wide array of banking operations. My achievements include being an honor student for 4 years in a row, receiving my certified corporate governance officer designation from the London School of Business and successfully completing the graduate development program for banking and financing jobs competencies administered by the Institute of Banking Studies in Kuwait where I completed 22 courses worth 340 credit hours during the period from November 2014 to March 2015.

In addition, I have established solid business relationships with a number of key financial services personnel in Kuwait, including members of the Board of the Directors at Ahli United Bank Kuwait (AUBK), as well as the Bank's executives, and highly important individuals at the Central Bank of Kuwait and Capital Market Authority. Likewise, I actively participated in the development of the AUBK 2015 annual report as well as being responsible for maintaining the Bank's corporate governance section on its official Web site.

What are your weaknesses and what are you doing to solve them? Perhaps my biggest weakness is a lack of effective time management skills. In some cases, I have been confronted with so many tasks at once that it has been difficult to prioritize them in order to accurately determine what must first be accomplished before moving on to other issues. In other cases, this weakness has also adversely affected my ability to meet deadlines.

In response to this weakness, I have applied various time management techniques such as writing prioritized lists each day to identify what tasks must be accomplished first. In addition, a lesser, but still salient and associated weakness, is my tendency to procrastinate when confronted with odious or highly time-consuming tasks. In response to this weakness, and as part of my efforts to improve my time-management skills, I have also started taking immediate action on high priority items while scheduling sufficient time for the completion of other tasks.
