Psychopath Case Study

Case study 5 regarding the situation of DV presents many challenging problems for trying to identify psychopathic behavior. DV's crime involved him in owning a firearm as a convicted felon. The specific details of his case are not discussed in the case study but DV appears to be a common criminal with no serious psychopathic tendencies.

DV's attempts to feign mental illness is clearly brought out in this case study. When looking for psychopathic behavior, one must look for the blatant signs These folks are deliberately negligent and take no responsibility for their actions. They may create situations in which serious accidents take place and blame the person who had the accident for being careless. When it was entirely their fault. They prefer a risky situation. They rather gamble everything they have for a few minutes of thrill. When they lost everything they blame everyone but themselves for what has happened. that will present it. Psychopaths display abnormal behavior, willingly and knowingly.

The question remains however, was DV acting abnormal? DV's upbringing may be considered quite outside the realm of a normal childhood. Examiners looking at his situation must take this into consideration before diagnosis. Essentially an orphan with limited skills, DV's normal life is one of deception and unlawfulness. Should we be surprised at his attempts to try to fake mental illness?

For some, incarceration and evading law enforcement is a very normal part of life, making DV's personality very psychopathic in a general framework. To DV however, his faking is normal and routine. DV stands to benefit from lying about his mental condition in order to receive less punishment. This action seems very normal however. Most people wish to escape punishment if afforded the opportunity, and DV is no different.
