Addressing the Challenges of Groups and Teams
The company wants the employees to work in groups. Each manager has ten employees to supervise. The effective implementation of the roadside service provision depends on this team working together. According to Page, formation of groups at work brings about synergy. In addition, synergy results to a greater collective output compared with the aggregate of individual contribution. The company aims at increasing it profits, thus working with teams will help meet this objective (Page, 2010).
The group of ten people is an appropriate size. The internal communication among the members will be effective. The team leader will be able to co-ordinate the activities of the group. The process of decision making among them will be fast. This will bring about efficiency in the provision of services. As Page states, when working as a group conflicts are inevitable. However, in a group of ten people it is easy to solve the conflicts, and understand individual differences (Page, 2010).
The team should practice joint decision taking in the work process. This will improve the morale of the workers. High morale will stimulate co-operation among the employees. The employees' participation in decisions is crucial in the implementation of changes (Page, 2010, p. 26). They will have a positive attitude towards the new product and services that the company is putting in place. There will be free flow of ideas and information among the employees. This information is crucial in monitoring of the change progress.
High cohesion among the employees results to increase in productivity. The management of the company has to relate the groups and the organizational goals (Sabri et Al, 2007, p. 59). The company wants to increase its competitiveness in the market. They have to harness the groups' qualities with the objective of increasing the services they are offering. Therefore, the company should put a reward for hard work policy in place. The rewarding of the employees will be on the basis of individual output and group performance (Page, 2010).
Methods to Present Operational Change
The company needs to make the employees aware of the changes that they want to introduce. The teams and groups are already in place. The company will present the operational changes through communication. The communication process will have to be educative in nature. The employees of the company are crucial to the success of the car roadside service operation. The company should then make the employees understand the financial position of the company. The employees should know that the company profits have gone down (Page, 2010).
In clear and precise terms, the management should explain the implication of this to the employees. This will help the employees realize the need for something to be done to remedy the situation. The company then introduces the proposed changes that aim at increasing the company's profits. The company then makes an appeal to the employees to participate in the changes. Further, the company should outline how they hope to involve the employees. The communication has to emphasize on the urgency of implementing the changes (Page, 2010).
