Every organization has its vision, mission and set goals that need to be accomplished. Even though some goals set are long-term plans to the organization. Successful organizations often set long and short-term goals for their services, it is therefore important for those goals to meet their specific criteria. "Goal setting is one of the basic tools used by organizations to assist in setting a direction and achieving it. Successful organizations often set long- and short-term goals for service development, improving quality, reducing errors, becoming more customer-focused, and building better internal and public relations."- Jeffery Davis, Managing and Achieving Organizational Goals. Accountants often set goals and objectives for the entire department to ensure the business performs the best possible accounting practices at any given time.

Goals set by most organization are to ensure that, the business performs the best at any given time by making a quality product, increasing the organizations' production, promoting the workforce job satisfaction, maximizing profit as well as promoting fairness. My organization being an accounting firm, seeks to accomplish the goal of timeliness, while using their new accounting Information system to offer its customer the best services. Their main goal is to have an accounting system that will be timely, cost effective, informative, and reliable as well as establish an accounting system that is timely, cost effective, informative and reliable to its users. A system like the one instituted at the firm where I was an intern is an asset to any firm because it will present information to users at any time the data is required. I contributed to the goal of this organization by making sure that I was on time with the tasks assigned such as entering correct data as well as delivering them in time and following up to see if there are any areas that needed adjustments in order to avoid passing over my responsibilities to another party.

My experience expectation of the organization was to be a resourceful intern who contributed to the organizations goals through dedication, hard work, creativity and teamwork. I was able to interact with the system while feeding in data as well as deleting them whenever some data were wrongly entered. I was also able to forward the data for compilation in time to accomplish the goal of the organization which was "timeliness." By doing so, I was proven right that for sure I had my own objectives such as contributing to the organization goals through dedication and hard work.

My work as an intern was considered as a service to both the organization and the community. The job assigned to me as entering data, calculating taxes and completing Federal as well as state requirements is a service that I offered the organization. As a service to the organization, I was able to forward the data in time while to the community; the service I offered the organization enabled them to get the products they wanted in time. The service reinforced my personal values in terms of accuracy and acceptance. In terms of accuracy, I became more accurate in the data entry as well as calculating the taxes as compared to when I was doing calculations manually.
