It has been know that coalitions, task force or work groups are a part of public health practice in order to help stop violence and drug abuse. I feel they are an important part of the community because they can help to change the environment to better by fighting for our rights to be safe. "Consistency can be particularly important in addressing a community issue, especially if there are already a number of organizations or individuals working on it. If their approaches all differ significantly, and they're not cooperating or collaborating, it can lead to a chaotic situation where very little is accomplished. If, on the other hand, they can work together and agree on a common way to deal with the issue and on common goals, they're much more likely to make headway" (Coalition Building I: Starting a Coalition, 22012).

These groups help us to build a stronger and safer community so that we can live peacefully. Therefore, I feel we need these groups in our community because they support the greater good for people in general.

Some of the advantages and challenges to using coalitions, task force or work groups to address public health are very confusing to a certain because it is an advantage that people want to come together and help the community. On the other hand, there are times when there are not enough people in the group in order to make an effective difference. For example, the present approach to emergency management and planning requires a change to effectively confront the bioterrorist threats because I do not feel there is enough communication about what should take place if they occur.

"How often we find coalitions being pushed, both by funders and from within, to produce results quickly. As a society we are increasingly addicted to the "quick fix," and our tolerance for long-term, developmental or preventive approaches is low. Coalitions face the challenge of producing some short-term products without turning away from the long-term commitment and strategies that hold the greatest promise for building healthier communities" (Foster, 1993).

Given these facts, I do agree that the most important element of an emergency management and operations plan is communications. I also agree that communicating quickly and effectively across all levels to coordinate and management the response is a major priority. Even though there are some challenges with groups, they do help better the community.
