One of the greatest sculptors of all times, Michelangelo, became famous at the time that the public reviewed his first works of art. Despite of the fact that he had been certain that he was best fit for being a sculptor, Michelangelo accepted to paint the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. Even with his hesitation, the painting on the ceiling still stands as one of his greatest works and one of the greatest master pieces that the Renaissance period has given birth to.
The Marriage of the Virgin is a painting appreciated worldwide for its perception of depth and for its great details. Its painter, Raphael Sanzio, is one of the most representative artists from the Renaissance era. Raphael is well-known for frequently having used Madonnas in his paintings. Unlike the other Madonna paintings from the time, which pictured her as being expressionless, Raphael's paintings were very expressive, as they almost seemed to be alive.
While Italy had been the center core of the Renaissance, the change could also be felt throughout the world, with various artists beginning to adopt bolder and more realistic designs. Rogier van der Weyden has been one of the most renowned early Netherlandish painters. In comparison to other painters, van der Weyden paid great attention to the emotions expressed by a painting. The artist did not really care about facts like impressive sceneries. For centuries after his death, van der Weyden's works had not been appreciated and it had only been in the recent time that experts discovered the value of Rogier van der Weyden's work.
