SCHOOL SUPERINTENDENT

SCHOOL ADMINISTRATOR

COMMITTEE MEETING REPORT

After having attended the committee meeting and reflecting on the information gained the first conveyance of this memorandum is to express gratitude for the concern that we are so fortunate to have within this school system. Admittedly, there are issues that must be addressed. The awareness that our school is in crisis is within the minds of us all. However, the dedication of the committee and of each of the students, teachers and parents in the community is an inspiration and I know that it is this one thing that will bring this school system up to the level of excellence that each member of this community desires. Together this school can become the most excellent school in the area. However, this is quite a job and will take the effort and dedication of everyone involved.

Quality in education is extremely vital in shaping the potential for the future of those who follow behind us. Building a quality educational institution is much the same as building a bridge for those who come in the path behind us. However, this is not an easy task, but it is a simple one in that the simple dedication that we can each provide to this school project will be the very thing that compels and propels this school toward excellence. The first step in deciding what direction to head with the committee was to refresh in my own mind of the precise meaning that is stated within the mission of the school and from there the following strategy was formed in bringing the school out of this crisis. Positive reinforcement is a necessary provision that each individual may provide to others in keeping this initiative positive and upbeat on the progressive track to change. It vital that students, teachers, parents, faculty, indeed it is crucial that each part works in coordination with the other in order to smoothly implement a new directional thrust for the school. It is vital that more research be undertaken within the community and school for the specific purposes of assessment of needed changes.

This will be a coordinated effort and everyone's opinion will be valid and taken under consideration in the forthcoming changes. An open door policy will be implemented within the school, inclusive of the administrator's office, in establishing the foundation of communication and collaboration in this effort. A system will be put in place for receiving suggestions and concerns during this process and indeed from the moment of implementation on, as communication is the base that will be built upon to establish the new and improved school. Committees will consist of students, teachers, faculty, parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, neighbors, and in fact anyone who is concerned and interested in the future of the school.

Together, the committee will establish and state a mission that is inclusive of "educational excellence" arising from an excellent community of collaborators in educational achievement. Committee structure is not as important as the shared structuring of the committee in that each member of the community in actuality will "own" this project in an intimate aspect. Although there are individuals in the community that may not be highly educated, the life experience of these community members will provide that which is priceless with their common sense and experiential wisdom gained in life.

The project will be toward the achievement of the following three specific outcomes:
