.....hurdles to overcome. I am no different. One of my biggest struggles was finding my own identity and discovering my own self-worth. I battled with feeling like I was worthless. I battled depression and anxiety and wondering if I would ever be good enough for anything. In my childhood I was the one that held back. I did not see the point in trying harder than I needed to. I just wanted to finish something as fast as I could and be done with it.
Those days were dark and I had little light to see past the trees. However, as I grew older, I started realizing what things were most important to me. It was as if something in my head just clicked and I began to notice my desires and my ambition. As time passed I realized I had goals, I had dreams. So I followed them and I changed. In life people discover who they are through various interactions and experiences.
My experiences helped mold me into the kind of person who makes decisions, keeps promises, and does what they say. This is because I want to instill in others confidence in my abilities. By being there for my friends, my family, and my work associates, I can be of service and show pride in who I am. I can be the kind of person that is dependable and tolerant. This is who I want to be.
Coming from a family that struggled with identity issues and keeping promises, it was easier for me to be flaky, to be lazy. However, when I entered high school I realized I couldn't be like that and continue down the path in life I want to take. I want to take the academic route. I want to learn and grow as an individual. I want to have an open mind and see things through different perspectives. The higher learning environment helps me accomplish such a path.
To learn all that, I want to learn takes time and effort. I am willing to put forth that effort every single day of my life until I reach my goals. Even after I reach them, I still want to continue learning, growing. It is because life is a continuous cycle of actions and reactions that I am forever left in a state of wanting to know more. The world.
