The strongest points in Tiffany’s script, “Homeless in Seattle,” are: clarity, purpose, and the suggested solution. Tiffany clearly identifies the problem in her script and states how the city of Seattle is concerned about the homeless population. This shows that there is a need to address this issue. In other words, the need is not just imagined or fabricated for the sake of the script: the need is real and apparent and his been made known publicly by the city’s authorities. This lends the script a clear focus and foundation for proceeding.
The script’s purpose is also evident in that the script, after providing some background information, shows how the purpose is to explain why permanent housing structures for the homeless would help the people to address the city’s homeless problem. Tiffany isolates the issue of cost and shows how the cost for providing shelter for the homeless would actually save the city money in the long term. There are numerous solutions that are proposed that can be implemented to fix the problem and these connect the problem with the purpose of the script and to the solution.
Purpose is thus effectively linked with the solution provided and Tiffany wraps the script up nicely with a conclusion that goes over the main points and also adds a new perspective to the concepts...
The new concept is a reminder that the initiative ultimately relies on the hearts and minds of the audience because they are the ones who most get involved to see the proposed solution put into practice. It is an effective way to bring back the main point of the script to the audience and get the viewer involved in the process of addressing the problem.

The strong points in Lacey’s script are that 1) it gets right to the issue directly and effectively, 2) it proposes the options that can be used to address the situation, and 3) it identifies the main challenge of removing 700 homeless from the streets of Seattle and King County—and that main challenge is time: the mayor wants them off the streets in six months (by Christmas). Lacey’s script is quite clear and direct about the issues and it sets about methodically addressing them.
The script presents an action plan that effectively address the near-term, the medium-term, and the long-term issues associated with this issue. The issue of removing the homeless by Christmas is just one aspect of the problem.
