This question is largely opinion-based, but I would like you to use at least one academic source for each president. Who are the two greatest and two worst presidents in US history?
President Lincoln's patience when met with injustice and mockery is similar in characteristics to a second presidential value of his - humbleness. His modesty was evidenced by Lincoln's constant self-reminder to not 'judge', by his statement that good people tend to dispute, and mostly by his modest admission of the fact that nobody, not even he, could totally understand and influence events. This great president considered the US Declaration of Independence's ethical value of equal right to freedom, pursuing happiness and life as sacred, regarding it as the foundation of the nation's democracy and as a spiritual master to serve in the long run. His dedication to a remarkable moral principle that described how to live harmoniously within an all-encompassing, fair and considerate society constitutes a universal, rather than relative, value going beyond culture (Scarlett, 2012).
Roosevelt has been widely acknowledged as one among the USA's greatest presidents who effectively steered the nation across the tricky period of the Second World War and the Great Depression, which commenced in a short time following his appointment as governor. In his 4-year tenure in that post, he pushed various progressive measures via state legislature. Roosevelt is famous for his "100 Days" that witnessed more salient federal laws than ever being implemented. He reinstated a certain degree of trust in the nation's citizens, most of whom offered him a chance at continually attempting to resolve America's economic issues (Ladenburg, 2007).
This president's term in the office seemed to have made its way towards immense historical disgrace. Besides the shattering 9/11 attack, the Bush administration could hardly do anything to avoid his ranking as one of the worst presidents in American history. Almost all presidential administrations right from George Washington's time encountered president impeachment threats or claims of misconduct (Wilentz, 2006).
Although an excellent orator who stirred a whole generation of American youth, Kennedy failed in his role as president. Historians differ on the subject of what precisely caused the crisis in October 1962, nearly resulting in nuclear exchange. However, all interpretations essentially indicate that if the Atlantic Coast been destroyed that month, Kennedy's irresponsibility would be to blame. He was definitely guilty of the 1961 Bay of Pigs invasion in spite of having several chances to change course and considerable bureaucratic support for it. His failure led to the deaths of many, besides Cuba's still being under Communist regime to this day. He is also responsible for supporting and authorizing a misguided Iraqi coup in the year 1963 against the country's pro-Soviet Union military leader (Matthews, 2013).
