¶ … Literacy
The objective of setting up a method to teach young children the beginnings of their footing in any language is a noble ideal, and it has to be done in the language of the area. Ultimately the process of teaching is not isolated from the surroundings, and especially the influences of the mother. This has been recognized in our recognition of the term "mother tongue" and that is supposed to be the language that individuals are supposed to be the most proficient in. The wide extent of learning depends on how much of education that the individual gets and that may not be all through schools and colleges. A lot of education is through experience and that is why we have the special respect given to the elders in certain cultures. In the United States, though many languages are spoken by its inhabitants, yet the special position among languages is held by English as it is spoken by the greatest number of the people. It is certainly a worthwhile effort to develop a method of teaching English and other matters to young children. Yet nothing can be done without pain, and no teacher can be good without being perfect in their own performance. It is very wrong when one comes to the site of an educational organization and finds simple spelling mistakes like "deveoloped," "whch," "approppriate," "dayys." Three of these are simple spelling mistakes and two are mistakes of contextual use. The editing of the site is certainly expected to be much better.
Getting back to the site's content, the site highlights that literacy is like character development. Well in the use of words, one does not understand whose character will be developed - the worker giving literacy or the child getting literate. It talks about literacy being the method of communicating with peers and adults in various ways. For that certainly literacy is not required, and the initial communication is done by most children all over the world by talking. Talking is a way of communicating, that even non-literate persons can do, and some have done it over their entire life. It also talks about recognizing symbols and sounds, and again one does not have to be literate to do it. One just requires the understanding of the cause and effect relationship. In some experiments of psychology, symbols have been associated with certain reaction by the experimenter and then the results associated with sound or effect was understood even by animals. There is also talk about literacy being associated with listening and looking for information and directions. Again the meaning is not clear to me, and probably will be clear to a person more conversant with the language than I am.
The problem is that all of us have to be sincere about what we are saying. I like repeating this, and this is about the origin of the word "sincere." This means without wax, and that means that there has been no effort to cover up any defects in the work. This was the method and practice in the earlier days when palaces and present day monuments were built. The biggest contribution that anybody can provide in the world of today is to be saying the truth. This has become a difficult art and we have every individual trying to hide the truth even from their near relatives. The reason is that this has become a world of competition, and in that competition everyone has to stay ahead. Even in the business of literacy for children, I assume. But the trouble is that it gives the children a wrong start. What I have looked at is the initial introduction to the organization for many people, and if there are a lot of untruths in that, I assume that similar untruths will be a practice in the organization and that would certainly be extremely harmful for the organization and the children.
Then in the site we come to the area of children and their development and the main source of their education being the environment. This is certainly true and this is a wonderful part of human life. All of us learn, whatever the situation, which we are placed in be. The development of the capacity to take in knowledge is an inherent capacity of human beings, and well if certain varieties of education can increase it, it is the best to give it a chance. Building upon existing knowledge is also a human characteristic, and that is natural as one would find it difficult to find human beings without any knowledge unless they are absolute idiots. I really do not think that this system is meant for idiots as they require special schools and teachers for the minimal development that they can acquire. Anyway, as long as they can develop any type of children, it is good for the children of the world.
