Gay Stance Against Obama

Relationships between people of the same gender have become a subject more and more common during the last years. Most gay voters for the presidential elections tend to be influenced in their voting by the candidate's opinion concerning gay people. In the case of the newly elected U.S. president, Barack Obama, the gay community has had some abstentions from choosing to vote with him.

During his campaign, president Obama has stated that he supported gay people and gay marriages and most people felt that his position on the topic would bring the gay community on his side. However, the gay community seemed to refrain from giving their votes to Obama. The occurrence is believed to be mainly because of the fact that Obama had used several notorious anti-gay persons to campaign for him in some parts of the country.

Reverend Donnie McClurkin is one of the most controversial people that Obama had hired to represent him. McClurkin had claimed that he is acquainted with the gay issue as he, himself, had been a homosexual. Apparently, McClurkin's sexual preferences had been determined by the fact that he had been raped as a child. Subsequent to his homosexual life, McClurkin had chosen to follow the path of the church, which, he claims, had cleansed him of his "unnatural" behavior. During a recent speech, McClurkin had declared that he does not agree with homosexuality and that the act is a very perverted. (Keith Boykin)
