Gay Stance Against Obama Relationships Thesis

Gay Stance Against Obama

Relationships between people of the same gender have become a subject more and more common during the last years. Most gay voters for the presidential elections tend to be influenced in their voting by the candidate's opinion concerning gay people. In the case of the newly elected U.S. president, Barack Obama, the gay community has had some abstentions from choosing to vote with him.

During his campaign, president Obama has stated that he supported gay people and gay marriages and most people felt that his position on the topic would bring the gay community on his side. However, the gay community seemed to refrain from giving their votes to Obama. The occurrence is believed to be mainly because of the fact that Obama had used several notorious anti-gay persons to campaign for him in some parts of the country.

Reverend Donnie McClurkin is one of the most controversial people that Obama had hired to represent him. McClurkin had claimed that he is acquainted with the gay issue as he, himself, had been a homosexual. Apparently, McClurkin's sexual preferences had been determined by the fact that he had been raped as a child. Subsequent to his homosexual life, McClurkin had chosen to follow the path of the church, which, he claims, had cleansed him of his "unnatural" behavior. During a recent speech, McClurkin had declared that he does not agree with homosexuality and that the act is a very perverted. (Keith Boykin)

Apart from hiring anti-gay people to run his campaigns, Obama has stated during an interview that he did not directly agree to a marriage between two persons of the same sex. Despite that, he also stated that he does not wish to interfere with people's preferences, as that would mean that he would also interfere with the concept of an American life.

More precisely, "color blind racism created a paradox for presidential candidate Barack Obama. While he could not escape "race" his candidacy strategically figured "race" through color blind rhetoric that contained the threat of a black presidency. In spite of his campaign's efforts to avoid his racialization, "Obama" was alternately racialised and deracialized through his affective ties The tactics used by Obama through the application of the deracialization theory may have

Steele's warning however appears to be negated by the fact of Obama's success. While there are indeed lapses in his discipline, these can be said to serve only as an indicator of Mr. Obama's humanity, connecting him more closely rather than alienating him from his followers. Other authors also point out some potentially problematic factors in Obama's campaign and policy issues. According to Gerring and Yesnowitz, for example, Obama has

Unemployment stands at a respectable 4.6%. Well, fine. But the other side of the ledger groans with distress: a tax code that has become hideously biased in favor of the rich; a national debt that will probably have grown 70% by the time this president leaves Washington; a swelling cascade of mortgage defaults; a record near-$850 billion trade deficit; oil prices that are higher than they have ever been;
