Denise Johnson's sacrifices and impact on my life

I don't have to look far to find the person who has made an impact in my life. Denise Johnson is undoubtedly not a household name but it is a name that I recognize. It is the name of the person who is important to me not only because she is my mother but also because she is, in so many ways, a great and admirable person.

My mother, Denise Johnson came from a big family and like most families; my mother's family hoped to better their lives. Seeking a better life, they migrated from the country of Trinidad to the United States. It proved to be a challenging move for her family and they struggled to settle down and tried hard to make it in this country. Migrating to another country hasn't been easy for my mother but she made a great effort to adjust to a new environment and a new culture. My mother managed to receive a high school diploma however; she was unable to graduate with her class.

As far as I can remember, life has not been easy for us. My family has never had a lot. We haven't been as fortunate as the other people have been. There have been days when we had no idea where our next meal would come from and yet, my mother always managed to find a way. She has somehow always found a way to help us get through each day even if it meant that she had to eat less or not eat at all just so my brother and I could eat. My mother's countless sacrifices for us are a testament of her immense love for us. I am infinitely grateful for her because of this. If it weren't for her love, generosity, and her capacity to sacrifice for her children, things would be different for me and my brother. These qualities that my mother possesses have made a huge impact in my life, enough reason for my mother to be an important person in my life. And as it was, I've already admired my mother for her immense love for us.
