LOVE vs. INFATUATION Many people confuse infatuation with love. Though, both are intense feelings that a person can feel towards another person. Love and infatuation differ so much in their intensity, actuality of love and the final outcome. Love is a feeling towards another person of intense affection. Love also creates a personal attachment between two people. Infatuation occurs at the start of new relationships, when both parties are sexual attracted to each other.
The state of a person addicted to love, or having unreasoning passion is referred to as infatuation. To better understand and compare the two feelings one needs to understand that love is a deep down decision by a person to commit them self to another person, work through any conflicts they may encounter instead of giving up. Love also has a deeper care and understanding.
Infatuation is a state of a person not understanding their feelings, and they interpret their desire to be loved, and allow them self to be completely carried away by this desire. While love is associated with commitment, security and intimacy, infatuation is associated with lust, physical desire, and hormonal activity. Love will last for as long as one person feels they still love another person and will only end after they fall out of love. Infatuation last only a few days or weeks.
The constant feeling of wanting to be around a person all the time, having anxiety anytime one thinks of someone, feelings of jealousy and panicking are all indications of infatuation and not love. Love is forgiving, patient, tolerant, comes with intimacy, and passion. Infatuation invokes jealousy and induces impatience. With pure love nothing is expected by any of the persons involved.
There is no reason for a person falling in love with another person. Love comes with mixed feelings of emotions, intellect, and attraction. Infatuation gives a feeling of being in love by starting with physical attraction to a person. The feeling of being in love is intense, but it is pure like love. Love is a quiet, mature acceptance and understanding of a person's imperfection. When in love, a person has a connection with the other person's soul. This connection goes beyond the self.
If the other person does not react in the same way as the infatuated person, the other person becomes jealous. When one is infatuated they only think of them self, it leads to feelings of lust. Separation causes great pain in both emotions. Time apart between two souls that are truly in love strengthens the love they share for each other. Infatuation gets weak with separation and the feeling fades. There are few cases where infatuation has led.
