(2007, p.1) Hall (2007) reports that social groupings are "part of the human's relationship with society. Groups have power and a culture distinct to itself. Groups contain characteristics that are common to every other group, but they also possess characteristics unique to the group in question. A group has a common fate to its members; a mutual benefit for members, social structure, group processes and self-categorization." (2003, p.2) When Hall states that the group has a "common fate" what he means is that "the whole team wins or the whole team loses. It is the team identity." (Hall, 2003, p.3)
