Family, as sociology recognizes is one of the most important institutions that contribute to the process of primary socialization of an individual. However, like all other institutions, family is one of the crucial grounds where feminists have a lot to argue about and they fight for the rights of women and the need to be given an appropriate space and respect in the household. As the distribution of work in the household goes, the traditional belief and concept is that the women are the ones who need to stay home and monitor all the necessary chores and the domestic work needed around the house. However, the feminists seem to be highly critical about this particular thought. They have begun to question why it is seen as the women's sole responsibility to look after the needs of the children and tend to every individual in the household. Since the feminists have largely raised arguments about the liberation and freedom that a woman should have regarding her career and her life, they have also put forward the idea of symmetrical roles in the family played by the husband and wife.

The paper is based on the study on the topic of "Are men intimidated by successful women?" The paper has described several reasons for intimidation and the choices that successful women have in finding their partners. There was a time when women were thought of as a second class citizen. Only men worked in offices, fought in wars, ruled countries etc, men were responsible for providing the basic needs of the family. On the other hand women did all the work at home such as laundry, cleaning dishes, cooking food etc. Women were not allowed to have a corporate career. However as the time passed, the concept of equal rights picked up. Feminists' movements and human rights activist have allowed women to redefine the purpose of living. The term "It's a Man's World" does not apply any more in the Western countries. Standards have changed along with the changing society.

The aim of the study was to analyse how an advert employed psycholinguistics in its aim to manipulate readers to buy the product. The ‘Fairy Soap' advertisement was used and investigated for the use of concrete imagery – a strategy of psycholinguistics. Psycholinguistics says that concrete imagery not only forges associations but also makes imagery more vivid and helps reader comprehend and faster remember words. Analysis of the advert in terms of the concrete imagery used showed that all applied. Discussion sums up result and concludes that that readers can be more readily manipulated into buying the product – unless they were aware that they are being deliberately manipulated by people who know how to make words sound psychologically appealing.
