This paper examines the actions of Lehmann Brothers with regards to its accounting practices prior to its financial collapse in September of 2008. Repo 105 is a method of accounting that allowed Lehmann Brothers to conceal billions of dollars of toxic assets from investors and the public in general. The ethical and professional issues involved are examined.

The contribution of Stanley Milgram has been significant in the field of social psychology. Milgram conducted experiments of human behavior in a laboratory setting and concluded that obedience to authority usually disregards moral or legal normative standards. An individual's behavior is thus shaped by the environment, people around, and his figure of authority. "Because humans are social animals, human behavior is strongly influenced by behavior of other humans; this influence is often very direct"(Aarts & Dijksterhuis, 2003; Pg. 18). The current paper investigates as to what extent the human behavior is influenced by others. The paper adopts an investigative approach and cites peer reviewed articles to substantiate the discussion. Social identity theory is also an important theoretical explanation that explains how and why an individual voluntarily gets influenced from socially constructed relationships.

The role of law (not to be confused with "the rule of law") in society and in the business world is a key component that adjusts to changes and provides guidance and leverage, especially in democratic societies. This paper reviews the way in which laws must be understood and complied with for corporations that have global operations; no matter what country a company is working in, the laws of that country must be obeyed. also, an HR specialist must be familiar with all laws pertaining to employee rights and non-discrimination in the workplace.

According to Figure A-1, Major Features of Columbus Consolidated Government's Government-Wide and Fund Financial Statements, the accrual accounting method is the city's preferred form of accounting, in accordance with the guidelines set forth by the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB). Accrual accounting is used within all of Columbus' citywide bookkeeping because the GASB has issued clear mandates as to the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) that municipal governments can implement. As the CAFR states, "the government-wide financial statements are reported using the economic resources measurement focus and the accrual basis of accounting, as are the proprietary fund and fiduciary fund financial statements" (Hodge, 2012). The stated reason for using this accounting method is that "under the accrual basis of accounting, revenues are recorded when earned and expenses are recorded when a liability is incurred, regardless of the timing of related cash flows" (Hodge, 2012). Accrual accounting is the preferred form of accounting used by municipal governments because it provides a more accurate representation of a city's financial situation, with the formerly typical practice of transferring one year's debts to the next fiscal year curtailed entirely.

In this paper, I have chosen Muhammad Yunus (founder of Grameen Bank) as the entrepreneur under discussion. In the first part of the paper, I have described the term ‘social enterprise' and what do social enterprises contribute to society and the economies in which they operate. In the second part, I have given an introduction and short biography of Professor Yunus. Later, I have discussed what drives and motivates him and what is his entrepreneurial mind-set. I have discussed his leadership under Trait Theory model.
