This current study explored just how obedient people would be in a stressful situation. Researchers designed a study where participants thought they were inflicting pain upon another human being to test the levels of obedience the participants would exhibit. The study, along with 14 Yale seniors, hypothesized that out of 100 people; only 3% would actually commit to the full experiment and continue to give shock treatment after the participants began to realize just how bad it was afflicting the "victim" (Milgram 1963).

Fiedler has developed a Cognitive Resource Theory and has written about it in a couple of articles, both reviewed here, assuming intelligence, experience and other cognitive resources create leadership success.

Gall's "Figuring out the Importance of Research Results: Statistical Significance versus Practical Significance" is a good and somewhat indecisive viewpoint on statistical methods used to test the null hypothesis. Perhaps his observations prove to focus more in the importance of research results versus the unimportance of research results in statistical significance. He goes back and forth on the significance which tells from Gall's viewpoint, that null hypothesis was repetitive due to the level of certainty and that accurate circumstances, for example a random sampling from a defined population, have been satisfied, but are limited.

Maintenance related error has been cited as a significant factor in the cause of numerous U.S. aircraft accidents over the years. The research proposed within this project will thoroughly examine the effect that MRM has had on commercial aviation safety since its implementation in 1993. Statistical data from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will be utilized to show mishap causes and trends within the commercial aviation industry both pre and post MRM implementation.

Psychology is a relatively new field of science as opposed to the natural sciences because it was born out of the spirit of humanism after the Renaissance (Hergenhahn, 108). As a result, methods and norms in the field are still being developed. In addition, the subject matter of the field includes the mind, personality and other intangible entities that cannot be subjected to the same kind of testing and experimentation as in medicine or physics.

Correctional institutions have enhanced in quality and condition over the years. What started out as dungeons and sewers in Rome, the conditions for correctional institutions have improved to quite an extent. In the 1980s, overcrowding became a renowned problem as it also went against the eighth amendment that forbids cruel and unusual punishment. (Carter & Glaser, 1977, p. 1) Increased crowdedness causes mental and physical damage to the inmates in the prison according to a research done by Paulus, Cox and McCain. The Iowa department of corrections takes control of the public, workers and the offenders by keeping them under punishment yet away from cruel behaviors as well. All the correctional measures taken under the criminals are done under proper supervision to ensure that their safety is not compromised.
