Class Inequality, Education, and Equal Opportunity in America
This paper examines some of the reasons and consequences of the disparity in the distribution of wealth in the United States and the differences in access to quality educational programs. The perpetuation of social inequalities by the elite in our country is discussed as well as possible solutions aimed at the redistribution of wealth. Finally, we look at the beliefs that spawned our current educational system and the No Child Left Behind Legislation.
Indigenous and Western Science in the Primary Classroom
The paper considers three questions relating to science and education. The topic is shadows and light, viewed in the light of cultural, experiential, and pedagogical theory. The main indication is that there are different ways of learning, which can complement each other, particularly in a multi-cultural classroom setup. In other words, students are prepared to become future scientists.
NASA's Gemini Program: Missions, Science, and Moon Legacy
Throughout history, the idea of modern space travel has captured the human imagination. This began when early astronomers first started looking up at the sky and wondered about the universe. By the 1950s, these ideas became more realistic with development of rockets. This set the stage for a space race between the United States and the Soviet Union. At the heart of these objectives, was to see which nation would be the first to walk on the moon. The Gemini project was critical in helping America to reach these goals. This is despite the short term costs increases from $161 million to $242.70 million. What was learned during this process set the stage for the US to go to the moon and beyond. Moreover, many of the breakthroughs helped to advance scientific understanding of the universe and the world. These ideas are still being utilized as a foundation for various disciplines to this very day.

Patient is a 65 year old male Mexican-born retired bus driver with a relevant past medical history of atrial fibrillation and deep vein thrombosis treated with Coumadin who presents with hematuria. Patient sought care after witnessing blood in his urine and feeling generally weak. In addition, the patient has history of hypertension, stroke, DVT, BPH, gout, depression, anxiety, chronic bronchitis and a remote history of chicken pox. He has no known allergies. Past surgical history is only remarkable for appendectomy. Patient drinks alcohol (1 beer/day), smokes (1/2 pack/day) and has never used illicit drugs. Patient reports a family history of hypertension, arthritis, asthma, colon cancer, diabetes and gastric ulcers. Prescription medications: Coumadin 3mg by mouth daily, Flomax (Tamsulosin) 0.4mg by moth daily, Senna 187mg PO daily, Metoprolol Tartrate 12.5mg by mouth daily, Lisinopril 2.5mg by mouth twice a day, Finasteride 5mg by mouth daily, Docusate sodiun 100mg by mouth three times a day, Oxycodone 5/325mg by mouth every four hours as needed it for moderate to severe pain. Remeron 30mg by mouth at bedtime. Cardizem 10mg intravenous push as needed Allopurinol 300mg by mouth daily, Colchicine 0.6mg PO Daily, Levaquine 500 mg By mouth Daily. Over-the-counter medications are Acetaminophen 325mg two tabs PO every 4 hours PRN.
