The basic idea is that every individual who pollutes needs to take responsibility for his or her own actions. Also, a large amount of the money raised through taxing pollution would be invested in creating green technologies which would replace pollutant technologies in time. People need to understand that they are not being deprived of particular technologies through the fact that this tax is imposed, as they are actually heading toward a stage where technology is no longer pollutant, regardless of the level of comfort that it generates. Green cars can actually be much better than cars that run on fossil fuels, given that contemporary progress in the technological sector has made it possible for fossil fuels to appear like an obsolete source of energy. The fight against global warming can also be seen as an opportunity to strengthen relationship between countries and to create an united front dedicated to saving the planet from becoming a polluted wasteland.

This tax would virtually stand against some of the most important factor in the contemporary society -- profit. Corporations in particular are likely to experience a significant loss of profits as a result of the fact that some of their most expensive products recognized for the fact that they pollute in excess will sale in lesser amounts. Even with that corporations will also be encouraged to design environment-friendly products, given that luxurious products can also be green.
IV. Synthesis

People typically prefer to claim that it is futile to fight global warming, as it is going to happen with or without their intervention. However, getting involved in doing something does not hurt. Replacing fossil fuels as one of the main energy sources in cars does not just mean that people fight pollution, as it also means that fuels is likely to become cheaper, especially given that fossil fuels resources are depleting rapidly and people are left with little alternatives. Corporations do not necessarily have to lose profits in order for this tax to be made possible, as they can also sell greener products. Consumerism will always exist, regardless of the factors involved.
