The format for a teacher's e-portfolio varies. Some degree of flexibility is needed to allow educators the opportunity to imbue their portfolios with personal flair. Therefore, the format can vary as long as the checklist items are complete. At the same time, electronic portfolios should become more consistent to allow easy access to potential viewers. All electronic portfolios should include ample hyperlinking, especially to ease navigation through the document and most of all be maintained on a stable server. If possible, the teacher can use pre-designed templates for managing teacher portfolios. Consulting with coworkers is another way to help teachers design portfolios appropriate for their needs. Some schools may offer their employees templates to urge consistent portfolios for educators working at the same institution.
