BSITM Student Support Website
Design Document
In designing this website, I asked students and professors a number of questions. Since students and professors have a stake in the information available to students and outsiders via a school website, both should be involved in defining the site's goals. The questions asked were frustrated the students and faculty about the current website and what website they wish the department's website was like. I asked if a mobile version would be useful. I also asked if supplemental classroom materials (such as outside readings, lecture PowerPoints and videos, etc.) would be good to put on the website and if those materials should be available to the general public or just members of the school community?

The overarching purpose of the department is to educate students in managing the unique projects and issues associated with information technology.
Audience
This website would potentially be accessed by a number of people including students, prospective students, faculty, and intra- and interinstitutional colleagues.
What the Audience Will Look For
Students would come to the website to check grades, course offerings, schedules, class descriptions, find phone numbers and email addresses for their professors, access supplemental class materials, research career options for when the graduate, and potentially collaborate with fellow students and faculty. Comment by admin: Is there already an established/accessible place for this? Comment by admin: Is there already an established/accessible place for this?
Students and faculty both will come to the site to looking for a calendar of upcoming events and phone numbers and email addresses of faculty and staff.
Faculty will want to post current research and read up on their colleagues' research.
