In terms of theoretical sociological approach, it is hard to see Steve Striffler as anything but an anti-positivist. In his approach, a precise analysis of "Mexican" as an ideal type, even though Laotians and Marshallese were included in the group, even Striffler was "almost Mexican" due to his presence amongst the workers not just on the floor of the processing plant, but sharing their experiences and stories in the break room where the white managers never bother to go...
This approach of the ideal type would utilize Max Weber's theoretical approach of the ideal type, which would explain how powerful the "Mexican" sociological influence was upon the non-management plant workers, even though other immigrant groups were not Mexican. This amorphous categorization certainly would certainly characterize the non-white plant workers who were part of a non-concrete reality that existed only because of the plant (Bolender Initiatives 2011). An analysis tragedy of the downfall of the traditional harinero process technique because of Michael's managerial style where the workers loose control of process of the means of production (Striffler 2006, 102)..
