Journal Reflection
The business sector has been hard for the nonprofit leadership and management since they are unsustainable. Studies have highlighted that most leaders are leaving the business sector in search of successful pastures. The lack of compensation, burnout, and excessive responsibilities make many leaders in nonprofit organizations to leave (Renz, 2016). Others fear that they will be no appropriate ways for them to retire in the future.
The main challenge facing the nonprofit sector is finding a better replacement of the leaders. Nonprofit leaders can help improve this field by ensuring that they train the current generation on the effective measures of administering leadership. The current generation will determine the future of the nonprofit leadership and management. For secure future, the young generation needs to be mentored and trained on the use of opportunities. Through mentorship, the young generation is likely to acquire skills, capabilities, and knowledge that they can use to run the nonprofit sector (Kearns, Livingston, Scherer & McShane, 2015). They can also identify their weakness and strengths through mentorship where they get to learn through experiences.
Nonprofit leaders should also change their leadership structure of how they lead other people. They should empower and offer more opportunities for individuals to help them realize their potentials. This factor can help envision a better future for the nonprofit leadership. The young generation should also be exposed to challenges that will help them learn and be good problem-solvers. The challenges should help the young generation learn how to create effective solutions by being good decision makers.
In summary, nonprofit leaders have a role to play in the current generation. They should mentor and offer opportunities that will help them secure a successful future to the industry. It is also the responsibility of the leaders to direct and inspire others on how to be good leaders.
