When I retire, the first issue is how much I should plan to rely on Medicare to cover my healthcare costs as I continue to age. Many are still confused and do not have the proper knowledge of how Medicare works and what it covers. Despite Medicare's assistance to pay medical spending, there are a few gaps that many people are unaware of, such as oral treatment.1 How much of one's retirement income to set aside for healthcare is determined mainly by age and general health.1 Since insurance is modified, implying services are offered and removed, this scenario is challenging to overcome by legislative health policy.1 It can be challenging to determine how often one can depend on Medicare using new plans.1

Yes, in several instances, it comes as a surprise to older people that Medicare is not free. This is due to a lack of clear information on what Medicare covers and how it works. Based on an individual's specific coverage and how frequently one uses healthcare systems, the cost of healthcare can become too expensive after retirement (Lake, 2021). However, one's overall retirement budget relies on the following. One is the amount of money one will receive every month, and two is the total cost of an individual's expenses. Averagely, adults at 65 and beyond use around $4,195 per month.

Nonetheless, as of 2021, social security only disbursed a maximum of $3 145 for retires at full retirement age (Ghilarducci & James, 2018). While in 2022, the maximum benefit is capped at $3 345. Therefore, one should plan with no less the difference, which is around $1,000.

The second issue is what services should be covered under Medicare and Medicaid. What should I expect Medicare to fund my medical costs as I get older when I retire? For various reasons, including the lack of a clear response or plan for what should happen, these concerns are challenging to tackle through legislative health policy.1 Individual has to make decisions about these issues, and everyone has various viewpoints.1 This makes these diagrams tough to resolve because everyone will hold a different view, and the study will yield multiple conclusions.1

Honestly, most Americans do not know what particular health services are covered under Medicaid and Medicare. Nonetheless, long-term care is not covered under Medicare. However, some healthcare expenses during retirement can be paid by Medicare, though with limitations. For instance, minus part D prescription drug policy, Medicare is not covering medications (Lake, 2021). Besides, premiums for part D range by income level. However, in 2022, part D coverage for premium is approximately $33 every month. However, the initial Medicare plans like Parts A and B do not cover vision and dental care, though Medicare Advantage plans do(Ghilarducci & James, 2018). Therefore, if one does not have Medicare's advantage to cover dental expenses, they can consider a standalone dental insurance plan.

And the last issue is what population groups should receive subsidized coverage from tax revenues? Because some organizations apply for coverage while others do not, this question may be biased.1 However, your family must meet a certain threshold of federal income to be eligible for compensation.1 Figuring out precisely what statistics will entitle a family to coverage can be difficult.1 Another source of concern is where the money would come from to assist those who qualify for coverage.1 This is wonderful, in my opinion, for everyone to have access to health care services when they are needed, but it also means that they receive their services for free, while others who do not qualify must pay for them.1
