Part 1 If a health outcome is perceived to higher or lower magnitude between populations, there exists a disparity. Imperatively, aspects such as age, race or ethnicity, disability, sexual identity, socioeconomic status, geographic location and sex are all contributing factors to a person’s ability to attain good health. In this case, the disparity selected is the obesity status of children. Notably, obesity is increasing at a significant rate across the globe and is in the present day approximated to be prevalent in more than 300 million people across the globe.

In children today, obesity is the most prevalent metabolic and nutritional illness, whereas three decades ago this was barely seen. There are different ways in which members of this group may be disadvantaged with regard to health status. In accordance to Ahmad et al. (2010), childhood obesity can give rise to diabetes, high blood pressure, cancer, liver disease, heart disease, sleep issues, and eating disorders like bulimia and anorexia. There is also the likelihood of asthma and respiratory illnesses.

Statistics indicate that children who are suffering from obesity have approximately, 2.4 to 4.5 times greater risk for developing hypertension together with 2.4 to 8.0 fold increase in prevalence of dyslipidemia as adults who are between the ages of 27 and 31, in comparison to children with normal body mass index (BMI). Furthermore, members of this group are disadvantaged in the sense that the frequency of type-2 diabetes is prevalent and more likely to take place in overweight and obese adolescents.

What is more, children suffering from obesity have their carotid arteries precipitately aged by as much as 30 years in addition to abnormal levels of cholesterol. It has been established that obesity during adolescence leads to mortality rates in the course of adulthood (Lakshman, 2012).

One superfund site that is found where I live in Bayville, New Jersey, is Denzer and Schafer X Ray Co. This superfund site is situated at Hickory Lane.

Imperatively, the EPA pinpointed this particular superfund site because they pose or at one particular time posed a potential risk to human health as well as the environment owing to the contamination by one or more hazardous wastes. Reclamation of silver from both microfilm and X-ray negatives occured at the site. Preliminary sampling established that there was contamination of groundwater with heavy metals and volatile organic compounds (VOCs). The latter is deemed to be theoretically damaging pollutants that can simply vaporize into the air.

Subsequent to a short-range cleanup and site surveys, EPA made a determination that low levels of pollution in the groundwater did not pose a significant risk to human health and the environment any more. According to Miller (2016), cleanup activities comprised of the demolition as well as disposal of the company building, emptying of.
