Reflective Journal

I have accomplished various educational goals and professional development from various program components in this program. Different program elements are designed to accomplish different kinds of professional growth, as will be reflected herein. The engagement with concepts and theories of liberal education has resulted in their integration into my nursing practice. It involves the practice of culturally congruent care as espoused in the nursing theory. Integrating nursing theories and models is critical for developing a modern nursing practice that improves patient outcomes and contextualizes the nursing environment in different environments (Brooks et al., 2019). Consequently, I have developed a holistic understanding of the human experience across the life span and the unique needs for treatment at different levels of treatment.

The program has facilitated the development of leadership skills, critical thinking, and teamwork skills that have facilitated the ability to coordinate care among interprofessional, deliver high-quality nursing care. I now can be accountable for my own and delegated nursing care in various healthcare settings. Leadership in the nursing environment is essential to ensure no patients or issues in the care environment are left unattended. Further, within the care environment, for example, in the post-operation care unit, the nurse in charge of a patient needs to be accountable for monitoring the patient’s well-being and responsiveness and attending to their needs (Molina-Mula & Gallo-Estrada, 2020). These responsibilities are accomplished by utilizing the planning, implementing, and evaluation skills learned in the program to improve healthcare and patient outcomes.

Beyond the acquisition of knowledge, engagement in real-life scenarios facilitates the application of evidence-based practice, clinical judgment, and considering patient preferences while developing a treatment plan. The management of the patient under different circumstances involves attending to their basic needs, evaluating their overall wellness based on empirical evidence, and attempting treatment options that provide the best option for patient outcomes. The consideration of the preferences of treatment by the patient is critical since it establishes a balanced relationship between the patient and the nurse by creating the desired treatment outcomes together. These measures effectively reconcile cultural ideals with evidence-based practice to avoid the development of challenges associated with understanding the definition of health between the patient and nurse. These changes have created a curious approach and increased awareness about the safety of the care patient in the care environment and improved the quality of care. Notably, these require the nurses’ intentional engagement in the process of treatment. Management of these challenges makes it possible for the corporation to meet the challenges of creating a common interest.

The professional end-of-program student learning outcomes required demonstrating the use of patient care technologies, effective communication, information systems, and good communication skills to interact with colleagues and patients for effective delivery of congruent care. The ability to conduct oneself professionally is critical for collaborating and coordinating treatment and care for patients. The use of non­verbal, written, verbal, and emerging technology methods to communicate effectively. Documented communication through progress notes, reporting to physicians, and giving reports to the incoming shift of nurses. I have also developed the ability to interact with patients and my colleagues as a leader and develop professional conduct to work harmoniously and effectively.

I have learned to use a holistic caring framework to integrate ethical principles, patient advocacy, and critical thinking to address inadequacies in health care social policies, Moreso for those vulnerable in the community. I now can integrate knowledge and methods of different disciplines to inform decision-making. I have learned how to integrate different stems of knowledge to deliver high-quality care or develop treatment plans for patients with specialized needs and take the leadership role to foresee the integration of changes in the growth of my career and practice. Engaging with nursing practitioners who have already graduated from this program has been effective in orienting the work environment concerning the learning material. This approach to professional development has been helpful by assisting me in staying informed about changes in regulations and practices in my nursing career.

I have gathered knowledge of cultural and social factors in the care of diverse populations. Health promotion and understanding of the community health theory have created insights into developing a common interest. Learning about different cultures

and how to promote the health of underserved populations has given me an understanding of the health component of nursing theory. I have also learned the importance of culturally congruent care. The health promotion paper addressed these factors as we chose topic and further developed ideas about these different populations. Therefore, my position is unique for the evaluation of the impact of health or illness, attitudes, beliefs, values, and sociocultural practices on individuals, communities, families, groups, and diverse populations across the health-illness continuum and how these impact different ideas of health in different communities and the inclined health outcome.
