As a result, he proposes a series of social and political policies that would strengthen the role played by the black male in the family. These refer to better employment opportunities, wage increases or an improved social perception of the roles that fathers play within the family. The senator exemplifies by stating that the white families are mostly run by two parents and the presence and role of both mother and father foster the growth and development of a stable individual, who will not engage in criminal actions. 4. Conclusions

The report issued by Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan set the basis for years of controversy. Organized under the title the Negro Family: The Case for National Action, the findings were party based on two previous studies (undisclosed to the public).

Moynihan's Report argues the standpoint from which the family is the primary cause of increased violence in the black communities. He states that the deterioration of the black community is to be blamed on the deterioration of the black family. Furthermore, he points out that these black families have the tendency to pass on their heritage. In other words, due to the pathological factor, the black families perpetuate increased crime...

As a result, in order to fix the aroused matters and reduce violence, the structure of the African-American family has to be addressed. This basically revolves around the decreasing role of the black male and suggests that social and political measures must be taken to reduce divorce rates and reintegrate the male as an authority figure within the black family.
