S.-led coalition, which were the members of the royal family, and the anti-western views promoted by Osama bin Laden and other wealthy, but not royal Saudis. The opposition to the royal family viewed them as protecting their own interests and not being true Muslims. Religion was used by these extremist groups to justify the opposition towards the royal family and their status in Saudi Arabia.
