Populations around the world, and in particular Japan, are aging quite rapidly. Baby Boomers, individuals born between 1946 and 1964 are reaching retirement age as they too become older. As this demographic age, they will typically become more prone to sickness or other forms of detrimental illnesses.
As such, the importance of nursing in the coming years will be even more profound (1). It is my belief that I can potentially contribute to the philosophy of providing care to needy individuals. I am very interesting in helping others achieve their health related goals. In accordance with this philosophy, I am preparing myself to become the best care giver and provider I can be. Nursing also provides an extra layer of security against our own fallacies and misconceptions.
In many instances it is not the environment, but our own doing that causes many of the sicknesses we experience. Our eating habits, our inactive lifestyles, our desire for conveniences all contribute to our poor health. The nursing profession is needed to handle all these epidemics as more individuals become sick due to a lifestyle that is a detriment to their own health and well-being. Each year in America, more individuals are losing their lives from obesity related illnesses.
Strokes, heart attacks, high blood pressure, and obesity all contribute to millions of deaths a year. What is so disheartening is that all these deaths can be prevented through simple lifestyle adjustments. This is why the nursing profession is so important (2). They have the specialized knowledge to help prevent millions of deaths a year. This profession, single-handedly can help save lives every single day with their knowledge and experience. Without them, who knows what perils await society in regards to their health and well-being.
As such, nurses are important to the overall function of society and without them countless lives will be lost. 2-Professional goals and objectives As with many individuals in society, my goals are both lofty and ambitious. I have a desire to first become a BSN. I understand that much training and practice is needed to achieve this desire. My goals and objectives focus on incremental change within my overall training. My first goal is to successfully complete all forms of required training with 5 years.
I intend to continually study and train tirelessly to achieve this effort. More importantly, I will also set a networking goal in an effort to gain insights and industry contacts. My goal will be to meet or befriend one executive each month in a position that I would like to obtain in the future. This is quite important for a multitude of reasons. First, I will gain valuable insight into the specifics of the position by an individual who has a through understanding of what the position entails.
This knowledge can be used to help my own personal understanding of the merits behind this position and if I should pursue that particular position. Secondly, by developing a contact of executives in higher positions, a mentorship relationship can potentially be formed (3). This relationship will unquestionably prepare me for other career related obstacles that may occur in the future. 3-An assessment of professional strengths My personal strengths are customer centric in nature. As stated earlier, I have a passion for helping others.
Passion, in the health care profession is vital for success. Lives will undoubtedly be lost and saved on my account. Passion allows me to successfully navigate through the trails and tribulations that will certainly occur in my profession. - I would like a career that emphasizes my strong oral and communication skills. I can communicate effectively with both leadership and peers to accomplish goals. As such, a management position allows for use of my communication skills.
