Staying Current in the Workplace

The healthcare industry is continuously evolving; thus, nurses must constantly be updated to meet these trends and demands. This has given a shift to the responsibilities of nurses when compared to decades ago. For instance, there have been rapid technological introductions in the healthcare industry while the old ones are being upgraded, which are now affecting the dynamics of the sector (Medvin, 2022). This growth and progress are happening rapidly in that before one technological invention becomes standard hospital practice, a new one is being invented, requiring nurses to be constantly updated. Furthermore, there has been a significant increase in patients, increasing nurses' responsibilities. Therefore, below are some approaches that could help nurses keep up with the development of their profession.

Balancing between practical and theoretical approach

Unlike most professions, nursing is hands-on since nurses must always be present to their patients to provide quality healthcare. However, there has been a significant increase in the number of patients daily, which has triggered technological evolution for them to contain all the patients (Colleges-Institute, 2022). The introduction of Internet of Things devices in the healthcare industry requires nurses to understand how to use them while attending to their patients. For instance, intelligent sensors and other wearable technology can record and remotely monitor patients' well-being and progress. In this instance, it is the responsibility of nurses to know how the device functions since it help them have less time monitoring their patients. This has lessened the burden of them being regularly on their patient's beds and has given them sufficient time to attend to other responsibilities.

Embrace diversity

The social system, demographics, and epidemiological patterns are always on the rise requiring nurses to develop healthcare services to accommodate this diversity and can solve the ethical challenges that emanate from such growth (Kershaw, 2011). Since patient diversity rises, nurses will strive to contain their services to suit this need. This will require nurses to familiarize themselves with new approaches. Thus they should always be reading new and trendy journals, articles, healthcare blogs, and nursing news to help them keep their curiosity about becoming a better nurse lively. Also, most of these blogs address personal development that nurses can incorporate into their work to help them better their skills. Some practices have never changed; you can take your time and analyze them from a different perspective and question why it always has to be done that way. This will help you come up with a more effective and reliable solution.

Attending conferences and workshops

Most workshops and conferences are where cutting-edge technological development is unleashed, and nurses are educated on how to use them. These conferences are vital since they educate nurses to stay up-to-date in their profession (Colleges-Institute, 2022). Attending these events helps nurses learn new concepts and equipment the ministry wants to enact in the healthcare industry. Furthermore, attending this convention gives nurses a wider field for fun networking and learning new concepts. This helps one be more competent since they acquire new perspectives when handling situations at the hospital.

Collaboration at work

In the healthcare industry, each nurse works as a team with doctors, specialists, surgeons, and the administrative staff; however, the rapid technological inventions will add more responsibilities to nurses since it will limit the number of professionals they will be working with (Yarbrough et al., 2016). They will be working with information technology experts who are vital to the nursing profession since they will help nurses find new technologies that are more helpful in the healthcare industry. Furthermore, these IT experts will help nurses learn how they can balance healthcare practices to make their nursing safe and effective.

In conclusion, being a nurse involves hard work, dedication, and determination. This implies that there are no shortcuts in the healthcare industry. For nurses to be more competent and reliable, they will have to continuously learn and develop new skills as the industry is being digitized. Furthermore, being updated with the developments in the industry will help them increase their confidence and hence improve job satisfaction, thus bringing revolutionary change to healthcare practice.
