The book is enjoyable to read as events unfold without any element of predictability. The reader is not able to predict the next course of action from the previous. The author has been able to show or create suspense throughout the book with one event leading to the other. The many challenges that Emily undergoes at the hands of those taking care of her after her parents have died to make the reader identify with her and in the process make him or her to read the book and determine her fate. The book is full of action involving all the characters, which makes the book enjoyable to read. The seriousness revolving around deaths and oppression is also part of the factors that make the book interesting and one that is worthy to read.
Emily gave a "NO" answer because she did not want to rush into marriage, as she did not want to be against her family. It was important for her to live with her aunt after her father died. For this reason, dispute being heartbroken, she did not want to make the hasty decision of moving away with Valancourt without the consent of her aunt who was her guardian. I agree with her refusal to get married that fast because there was a lot that she was to earn and learn as the story progressed. Marriage would not have provided her with the opportunity to learn most of the things that she learned through the experiences of her aunt and the castle in general. Consequently, respecting her aunt was the only way that she could have become the heir of her estate's something that would not have happened if she had made the hasty decision to get married by eloping with Valancourt.
Answer two
Based on the incident, Emily did not want to make a decision that she would regret later in life. This means that she had to take her time and ensure that she stays with her aunt as required by her father. Similarly, she still had many things that remained unattended to after the death of her father. Leaving her aunt was not her wish at all, despite her wanting to be Mrs. Valancourt. Her decision was the right one as staying with her aunt provided her with the opportunity to know her heritage and to gain the wealth that she was entitled to. It was important to stay with her aunt to prevent Montoni from becoming the heir of her property when she died. Eloping would have rendered her aunt helpless and succumbing to the pressure coming from Montoni.
Answer one
Looking at the Morano's incident and the attempt to elope with Emily, it is evident that Emily had other things in mind. The fact that Morano revealed that Montoni was a villain meant that Emily could not have left her aunt alone with the evil Montoni in the castle. Consequently, it is evident that Montoni had attempted to sell Emily to Morano before and he had accepted to buy her as her bride. This means that in Emily's mind, the two men were the same and it was better to stay with the person who she knew than to elope with one she does not know and end up suffering more than she was in the castle. I agree with her decision to note elope with Morano. Eloping would have left her aunt in danger and pressure of signing the papers and leaving everything under Montoni. Her desire to know the truth and stay with her aunt is what made her decide against eloping with Morano.
Answer two
The scene where Morano comes to visit Emily and convince her to run away with her clearly shows Emily as a selfless person in that she did not think of her freedom but that of her aunt. Her motive was to stay with her aunt and understand what plans Montoni had in store for them having attempted to sell Emily to Morano before. The fact that Morano had accepted to buy Emily must have made view the two men as the same and there was no way that Morano would have convinced Emily that he was different from Montoni. Looking at the case, one can understand her decision and argue that she made the right decision. This is because of the things that happen after she has stayed. She would have lost all her wealth or inheritance had she decided to leave the castle.
