Aristotle's "Politics" addresses a series of concepts such as the perfect state and the number of political ideologies that are more or less likely to play an active role in making such a state possible. The text appears to be aimed at emphasizing how attitudes can be essential in creating an ideal state and to the state's connection to the dominant political ideology within its borders. Aristotle believed that one needs to concentrate both on the individual and on the community as a whole when considering the nature of a state. Clive Thompson's article "Why the Next Civil Rights Battle Will Be Over the Mind" is focused on new technologies and on how they can represent a more or less positive concept in the contemporary society. While many bodies are taking advantage of the fact that they have access to innovative technologies, these respective technologies can seriously disrupt the balance in the contemporary world as long as they are used by individuals who are solely interested in their personal interests.

Chapter four in Patricia H. Miller's book "Theories of Developmental Psychology (fifth edition)", "Vygotsky and the Sociocultural Approach", provides information concerning the Soviet psychologist Lev Vygotsky and his tendency to place development as a concept during which individuals involved in one's upbringing play an important role in shaping the way that the person develops. The chapter proceeds to describe Vygotsky's development and influential theories that shaped the way he understood development. Miller also goes at presenting a sort of contrast between Vygotsky's views and views that are generally promoted in the Western World.
