Implementation of the IOM Future of Nursing report recommendations
There are many complexities in the health-care provision system, affecting the quality of health-care services in the US. Disintegration in health-care systems is a hindering factor, requiring unification between disciplines, for the enhancement of quality and synchrony. Promotion of collaboration between disciplines is a worldwide proposition for technology to advance healthcare providers interaction in their duties. Educating of more baccalaureate nurses, improving on the educational provision and using technology for the integration of healthcare would be an added advantage for elevating healthcare to greater levels. This would improve the use of evident based information as nurses interact with physicians. Country coalitions are a means of promoting the achievement of the IOM report, through the implementation of state based coalition plans.
Leininger\'s Theory on Care and Nursing Leininger\'s
With a solid grounding in ethnographic research—derived in part from living the life of an ethnographer—Leininger experienced and developed a creative process that resulted in the formulation of a concept, the articulation of a reformulation of that concept that borrowed from other disciplines and from her experiences in the field, and a resynthesis that eventually resulted in the development of a guide for the practice of cultural care and the development of nursing knowledge. Leininger's model is based on the broad approach that cultural care offers is the best way to research nursing knowledge and the concomitant practice of nursing and care. Through the Sunrise Enabler, Leininger provided as way for nurse practitioners to discover the patterns, processes, and meanings that contribute to the ability to predict well-being and to explain health care approaches. Leininger's overarching goal was to provide a theory that would support the development of congruent care and nursing practices.
Travelling America: The Diaries of John Steinbeck
America has long been considered the "land of opportunity," which makes it in turn, an opportune place to travel and explore. Though vast in geography and rich in culture, America has often offered its travelers a similar experience, as these travelers so often find themselves visiting similar places and hearing similar tales of the past and the present. Additionally, travelling often brings with it a longing for the past, as is seen so often in the case of America and the search for an understanding of the "American Dream," which has for years been rooted in the land and resources that America has to offer. Is this notion still true, or is it merely wishful thinking of the past? This question can be explored further in comparing the travels through America of author John Steinbeck, and author and sociologist, Jean Baudrillard. Steinbeck, an American, and Baudrillard, a Frenchman, began their travels through America's heartland in much the same way: eager to learn and explore. And while their distinctly different cultural backgrounds and different perspectives allowed each man to experience the country in his own way, in reading their accounts, one can see vast similarities, which each add a piece to the understanding of America's changing culture in the 1960s and 1970s, especially in terms of the nation's environmental perspectives.
