Apple Computer was founded in April 1976 by college drop outs Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs. The Macintosh computer finally moved Apple into the business office, and by 1988, over one million Macintosh's had been sold. Now, Apple designs, develops, produces markets and services microprocessor-based personal computers, related software and peripheral products, including laser printers, scanners, compact disk read-only memory drives and other related products.

In its most basic form, bureaucracy is an organization of non-elected officials of a government or organization, which implements the rules, laws, and functions of their respective institution. In Weber's mind, bureaucracy was necessary for both democratization of a government or body, as well as for its rationalization, and this bureaucratic system would work to provide efficiency within a given group (Allan 174). In viewing this system's basic model, critics have long argued a lack of equality and representation under such systems, but supporters note that efficiency is the key to a prosperous work environment.
