This paper examines how crisis intervention has developed in the recent past to its present status and use in the modern environment. This discussion is based on one event from the past 30 years that has contributed to the development and changes in crisis intervention in light of various stages in the process. The University of San Diego Counseling Center (USDCC) has been established to provide enrolled students with access to quality counseling and healthcare services. Employing a diverse selection of the university's most accomplished psychiatrists, psychologists, medical doctors, registered nurses, and other healthcare professionals, the USDCC operates a high-volume Critical Intensive Care Unit with the assistance of a 50-member nursing staff. Although the USDCC has built a reputation for delivering competent and qualified critical care services across a number of years, the organization's management structure has become concerned that educational priorities have not been updated to reflect modern advancements in the field. To that end, the USDCC recently elected to conduct a comprehensive Learning Needs Assessment and Analysis to identify the paramount educational needs in place, and the institutional forces working to facilitate or impede the implementation of these needs. Empirical research on the efficacy of various instructional design models has consistently demonstrated that because "individual and organization needs are ever changing, problem identification often has a limited life span and requires continual updating to identify critical performance problems" (Morrison et al., 2011).

A personal ethics system is a category of philosophy that stands apart from other ethical systems such as business ethics, legal ethics, value ethics, or any of the other various ethical perspectives. The component that makes a personal ethical system special is that it is uniquely derived from an individual's experiences and beliefs. Although an individual's ethical system may share overlapping material from more formal systems, it also includes personal insights, one's sense of consciousness, and even feelings of guilt. Personal ethical systems may be influenced by factors such as culture, religion, philosophy, or simply everyday experiences. Although some personal ethical systems are certainly more developed than others, there really isn't a correct answer or opinion in the development of these individual systems; rather just different stages in development.
