On this front, I was instrumental in the identification of an existing opportunity for the company to further enhance its revenues through the sale of Bath Products. Today, thanks to my efforts and those of my colleagues, our company is regarded a model for all other distributors of bath products. Like it has been the case with my previous accomplishments, this particular event also presented me with a valuable learning opportunity. Amongst other things, I learnt that for a company to remain relevant in a highly competitive marketplace, it has to embrace innovation and continuous improvement.
In campus, I also had an opportunity to serve as a Peaceful Multicultural World Ambassador. As an Ambassador, I was part of a group that was offered training on how to formulate and develop strategies for enhancing not only the understanding but also the respect for various diverse groups on campus and in the…

Real estate is an exciting, complex, and demanding field of study. Although many work in real estate, to undertake its study as a discipline requires a real love for the industry. That, I have in spades. However, like anyone who truly enjoys a particular area of study, my previous experience in the industry has only fueled my desire to learn more. It is through my admittance and completion of the aster's of Real Estate program that I hope to reach that goal.
y most recent experience in real estate was a position that I held from July, 2001, to February, 2004. During these years I worked as an analyst and acquisitions specialist for J&T Development in Denver, Colorado. y favorite thing about work there was being able to be a part of an impressive array of products and services -- including community management as well as…
My work at J&T also gave me extensive operations experience, including acting as a Senior Analyst in the company's $100 million recapitalization transaction, developing and implementing ancillary revenue initiatives to increase overall funds from operations.
Before J&T, I also worked for Chateau Communities in Denver, during the fall of 2000. There, I assisted in the creation of a disposition decision matrix to identify under-performing assets for potential sale, and conducted resident profile research to develop a resident retention program.
In short, my experience has given me an intense interest and love of the industry that I hope to refine through the Master's of Real Estate program. Although I believe that experience is one of the best ways to learn the "ins and outs" of a particular industry, I believe there are aspects of real estate in specific that lends itself to intense academic study.

While any profession in the field of healing is doubtlessly a noble and worthy one, there are few of these that offer the combination of technical expertise and human interaction that dentistry does. Although dentists are often professionals that are the subject of comedy in terms of being secondary to "real doctors," I believe that this profession does not nearly receive all the credit that it deserves. Few people who do not practice this profession in some way understand the rigors, years of study, and commitment it requires to be a good dentist. In addition to the amount of technical and biological knowledge required to be excellent at this profession, dentists are often also required to have a particularly excellent knowledge of human psychology and interaction to be good at their work. It is this combination that particularly attracts me to dentistry rather than any other profession in…
Personal Statement: Why I want to study law
Ever since I was a young child, I have always wanted to study the law. Documents that have protected people's rights throughout the ages such as the United States Constitution and the Magna Carta seemed to me as sacred as the Bible. I always had an innate sense of justice and 'fairness.' I enjoy arguing and have never had any problems standing up for my rights in conversation or in life. I love to study politics, writing, economics, and other fields that are very pertinent to the study of law. I love the problem-solving and negotiating aspects of the legal profession, just as much as I am interested in its argumentative aspects.
I have a naturally ambitious and risk-taking temperament that I believe is well-suited to the practice of law. I enjoy traveling and have taken every opportunity life has offered me…

I am already a student at California State University San Bernardino, and I plan to begin my masters program in September at CSUSB. I would like to obtain my masters degree in Public Administration for a number of compelling reasons. First, I wish to be a Public Administration major because it is relevant and even vital to my career goals. Ultimately, I would like to have a career as a director in the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS), and I know Public Administration is a degree that will serve me well in this goal. I realize this is a demanding goal for my future, and I want to make sure my education prepares me for the challenges ahead.
I would like to work for INS for many reasons. First and most importantly, I feel many of the current INS programs are outmoded and cumbersome, and difficult for many…
Becoming a physician's assistant was not an easy decision. I knew that the work would cut into my social life and take up most of my free time. I knew that I would have many sleepless nights as I balanced my studies with my job. However, the more I delved into the actual work of being a physician's assistant, the more I wanted to succeed.
My accomplishments pale in comparison with the heroes with whom I work. In fact, I would not have been able to help that women recover from her fall had it not been for the mentors and teachers in my life. With their aid and instruction, I have been able to offer assistance to doctors during the course of their daily work, helping their patients feel comfortable and helping the doctors and nurses perform their jobs with more efficiency. I have performed mundane tasks with enthusiasm…

What is your intended major? Discuss how your interest in the field developed and describe any experience you have had in the field - such as volunteer work, internships and employment, participation in student organizations and activities - and what you have gained from your involvement.
My planned major is Sociology. My interest in this field stems from my own life's challenges such as being brought to the United States from China when was a child and having to grow up without the presence of my parents. Rather than feeling sorry for myself, have healed my own personal pain by reaching out to others.
n the ninth grade, became a member of the Mandarin Baptist Church and was elected the youth leader of its love fellowship program. n this role, have helped organize activities such as community clean up efforts, walks to raise money for the hungry, and…
In 2003, during my junior year of high school, I returned to China because my father had died of lung cancer. Although grief stricken and disappointed that I had not been able to be with my father while growing up in the United States, I learned to be strong to overcome my fears and problems. To cope with this experience, I developed an inner strength that made me believe that I could live through anything.
When I was ready to return home I was told that my passport was not valid and that I would need to obtain a new one before I could come back to the United States. By the time I was finally back in the United States, it was too late for me to begin the second semester of school. For this reason, I was not able to graduate from high school even though I had good grades. Discovering that I would have to wait for another year to continue attending high school and because the private school I was attending cost a lot of money, I made the decision to attend a community college.
Although I would have preferred to finish high school, my decision to attend community college has proven to be a good one. I have excelled academically and socially. Recently, in June 2005, I received a qualification letter for the honors program at Mount San Antonio College. And, I have received a qualification letter from the Alpha Omega Alpha Academic committee in October, 2005. I just joined the Phi Theta Kappa organization in November, a group granting acceptance based on strong academics. Now, I am ready to take the next steps in my educational pursuits and hope that the University of California will favorably view my application.

I have always admired people like Bill Gates and Michael Dell who started their own businesses while still in college, with hardly any startup money. They poured everything they had, and even neglected their studies, into a creative business venture. They relied on what they knew instinctually, in that case knowledge of computers, and also discovered a previously untapped market niche. I believe a lot of business sense is innate, much like the talent for art or music. Having witnessed the success of my parents in their entrepreneurial ventures in China in the oil and coal industries, I grew up surrounded by business and economics and subsequently inspired by it. I am no stranger to the world of business and economics. In fact, I take for granted a lot of what I learned from my parents simply by observing them interact with their customers or by helping out…

In 2006, I moved to the U.S.A. from the Ukraine to get married, despite not speaking any English and leaving all of my family and friends. A year later, I was enrolled in ____college learning English and studying to be a Registered Nurse. In 2009 I entered ____'s (name of the college) Accelerated Nursing Program, which I completed in 18 months to graduate with a Bachelor Degree in Nursing in 2010.
My life has been a series of deliberate challenges with which to refine my character and hone my focus as a health care provider. I would like to be accepted into this university's Anesthesia program in order to assist patients in what I am convinced is my area of specialty.
I initially desired to become an anesthetist during my first clinical rotation in nursing school. I spent considerable time talking to individuals in this profession and, after…
For instance, as the Project Engineer for KUDU Corporate, I was responsible for completing such tasks as negotiating with vendors, achieving optimization, and planning the completion of projects. In doing this, I had to carefully consider not only the financial and material aspect of the projects, but also the social and personnel aspects of these various projects. Through this, I learned that the art of dealing with people plays a major role in both the role of the construction/real-estate manager and the engineer. Although this is only one way in which the two are related, this experience opened my eyes as to the importance of cross-discipline study in the area of engineering.
Because my attitude is open and so closely aligned with the goals of this University, I am confident that I will make an excellent addition to your PhD program. My work in other areas of your university has…
Personal Statement on the Career of Pharmacist
The career of Pharmacist was chosen because of the opportunity that is provided through this profession to make a difference in the lives of the sick and elderly. The positive impact of a professional and caring pharmacist to the lives of those whose days are spent in a doctors' office, hospitals, labs and finally, the pharmacy is a difference that is meaningful to the patient and fulfilling to the pharmacist.
Too many times those who are sick are left to grapple with attempting to understand how to take their medication, how to properly fill out insurance forms and how to properly monitor their indications. As a pharmacist I will be able to professionally assist patients in proper care, nutrition, medication dosage, fully explaining to the patient all side effect and interaction information. Further to assist the patient in understanding how to monitor their…
I have seen, in all of my educational observations a variety of distinct but equally effective classroom styles. Good teachers set reasonable challenges for their students and customize the learning experience to each and every student's needs even within a busy classroom environment. Motivating students to try their best in the classroom and to apply what they learn to daily life, making every experience a learning experience -- these are the hallmarks of good teaching. I hope Teacher's College will provide me with the necessary philosophical and practical tools to become a part of the honored profession of teaching. I hope to learn to think more critically about the practice of teaching, to better enable my students to become more critical thinkers themselves, after they leave my care. I am eager to learn as a student, and to become a student once again to become a great teacher of the…
I have a strong desire to contribute to the field of medical law, perhaps in malpractice, to ensure that physicians are held accountable. This is important to me, and I know that by the time I am admitted to the bar I may pursue a different path, but the important thing for me right now is that law gives me a tremendous sense of purpose.
I have proven myself in my pre-med studies, which now form the basis for my pre-law studies. Despite facing enormous challenges in dealing with my father's illness, I was able to maintain my strong academic focus. The hard work and dedication that I displayed during this time is indicative of the kind of person I am, the kind of law student that I will be and the kind of lawyer that I envision myself being.
You will doubtless be faced with an endless stream of…
As I have already pointed out elsewhere in this text, while growing up, I had the opportunity of interacting with various health professionals, amongst them nurses. From these interactions, I became aware that the profession does have its challenges. I am hence under no illusion whatsoever that nursing calls for sacrifice. I am ready to sacrifice so as to enhance the well-being of those who need my care the most i.e. patients. My working at the Home Depot Store also played a critical role in the enhancement of my personality in terms of my ability to relate well with others. It is also during this time that I further sharpened my problem solving skills. Thus given an opportunity, I will be able to relate well with patients and their families while also handling problems appropriately. I am also convinced that my personality resonates well with nursing. My caring attitude, excellent…

I am most interested in doing research in the area of Networks and Distributed Systems. Due to the global network that is being created the world seems to be getting closer. In the next ten years, the world structure will seem to become very close to home because of the network technology and innovations that will dramatically affect how the global network operates. Wireless technology is one example of these innovations, and it is already being widely implemented in many places such as college campuses, hospitals, libraries, and even the government. I want to work in this field because bringing the world closer together is one of my dreams.

Marcy, a sixth grader with large brown eyes, blonde hair, and severe behavioral problems, stared up at me as her fingers fondled the puzzle pieces. The intensity of her gaze took me aback; I imagined what brimmed inside her little brain. I had worked as a special education instructional assistant for several months before I started working with Marcy. My supervisor spent a full hour explaining Marcy's background to me along with her special needs. The girl had been a victim of physical and sexual abuse and was recently placed in a foster home. Since she was five she had acted destructively toward others and toward herself: she set fires, stole things, hit other children, and threw frequent tantrums. When I peered into her eyes, anger obscured any other thought or emotion. I wanted to badly to break through that barrier between Marcy and me so I could…

Programme: Masters in Science Degree in Media, Communication and Development
I have always known that I'm an extrovert. In addition to finding it easy to start (and maintain) conversations with people, I have a flair for teamwork and team effort. his is perhaps the root of my passion for behavioral sciences. It is also on the basis of this that I would like to pursue a career that perfectly aligns with my personality.
A career in advertising is perhaps one of the most rewarding for extroverts like me. It is also one of the most difficult to succeed in. However, as one of my current tutors, who also doubles up as my mentor, constantly points out; it is by relating with the best that we become the best. he London School of Economics is a topnotch institution known for churning out top-level and world-class graduates who go on…
To tell you a little about myself, I am currently in my third year of instruction at the University of Sussex. I am undertaking a degree in Psychology. One of the modules that I am currently taking is Economic and Consumer Psychology. From this module, I have learnt that through advertising and marketing, companies can effortlessly influence the decisions and choices made by the masses. Modules like these further stimulate my desire to expand my knowledge on the role of the media in the stimulation of demand and sustenance of consumption. Should I be granted admission, my exposure to diverse commercial environments could also come in handy during classroom instruction -- mainly as I seek to link theory to practice. In addition to having worked as a receptionist in a hair salon, I have also in the past had a brief stint at White Rose Laundries where I rose from a relatively junior role to a more responsible and demanding role of managing one of the entity's stores.
From your programme description, you point out that the main aim of the MSc programme "is to offer an advanced interdisciplinary education and training in contemporary theory and research in the field of media and communications and its application ...with a particular emphasis on low income country contexts." I have had an opportunity of working in low income settings -- mostly Pakistan, where I had volunteered to work at a hospital helping those who had been worst hit by the deadly 2008 earthquake. This exposure, I believe, will be of great relevance as I seek to relate with, understand, and integrate the programme's key concepts.
My key personal interests include, but they are not limited to; dancing, engaging in social work, listening to music, traveling, and reading developmental and media relations journals. I also like meeting new people and forging new friendships with those with whom we could engage in constructive debates.
My time playing professional baseball provided some unique experiences and great memories. I would not trade those for anything. But I have decided to end that journey in the interest of education, which for me has all the potential to be a richer, more fulfilling endeavor.
What prompted my interest in attending graduate school there was that I got my undergraduate degree at your institution, an accomplishment of which I am extremely proud. From experience, I know that the faculty and resources are among the best in the nation. While I spent a lot of my undergraduate career focused on my future in sports, I feel like my graduate career there would allow me to focus on my true, enduring future. Further, I know that I will be an asset to your program. In addition to bringing the drive and passion that I have discussed, I am a committed student,…

In today's world, there are several reasons nursing is one of the most essential professionals imaginable.
First, medicine is changing in two directions that make the nurse an essential, indispensable member of the patient care team. The continuing expansion of medical technologies means that physicians will be more and more specialized. Nurses will specialize as well, but because they are often the first and last person a patient sees when visiting any health care facility, nurses are the key to the interface between patient and technology. While physicians may order tests and treatments -- and while technicians of various sorts may administer them -- the nurse is the one who will have the entire treatment picture and can interact in ways with the patient and the rest of the staff that results in a positive and intelligent care-giving experience.
Second, even while medicine is undergoing vast technological advances,…
Personal Statement: Pace University
Pace University's Accelerated Combined Degree Program is the ideal launching pad for my new future as a nurse. I wish to begin my career in nursing as soon as possible, and given the current shortage of nurses, I believe that with this opportunity I could be prepared to be of service on the first day that I enter a hospital setting.
I have always been determined to enter the field of healthcare. I graduated from Queens College with a B.A. In psychology and completed all of the pre-med requirements. Afterwards, I attended Hofstra University's graduate program to prepare become a physician's assistant, but I was dissatisfied with the limitations the role of a P.A. placed upon me. I decided to pursue my M.A. In special education instead, to satisfy my desire to help people in another way. However, over the course of my study of children…

I also have a great deal of interest in my culture and in keeping contacts with other people who are from the area where I was born. Especially people my own age who are experiencing the challenge of being between the old culture and the new one, which are pretty different in many ways. Being a first generation immigrant is a difficult thing to be as parents and other sin their generation and their parents generation have cultural expectations that are very different from those of other children who were born and grew up in the U.S. There is a lot of pressure to both be myself, and be expressive because that is why my parents immigrated to the U.S. In the first place. Aviation is one of the nations most historic and captivating industries. Since the discovery of the first motor operated airplane in 1903, the industry has ballooned to a market size of over $472 Billion. In the United States alone, the aviation industry employs nearly 1.3 million people, while flying nearly 600 million passengers annually. The industry overall has transformed the manner in which goods, services, and people commute, thereby enhancing business efficiencies and national productivity. The industry itself has helped to facilitate globalization, international travel, and commerce. All of these benefits ultimately enhance the overall quality of life for the United States and the world overall. As an applicant to the Ph.D. in aviation program, I too desire to improve the quality of life for residents within my home country of Nigeria. My aim through admission into this program, is to help facilitate an improved aviation program in Nigeria, similar to…
In the past, I have volunteered for Tree City USA in Orland Hills in a number of projects and events. I also have a soft spot for communal well-being and development and in that regard; I occasionally coach the little league basketball just as a way of making a small contribution towards the development of others.
I may not be the brightest student in my class at Western Illinois University, the college from which am transferring, but I have made deliberate moves in the recent past to double my efforts so as to enhance my grades. As you will find out, I have had three grades in the past which may be an issue of concern i.e. An F (got a C+ on re-taking the same) and two Ds. I am fully convinced that poor time management contributed largely towards the three dismal grades and my relatively low GPA. With…

Social work has been and will always remain the most viable career choice for me because of my genuine concern for both social justice and human dignity. Further, I also possess a deep desire to impact positively on the lives of others. Social work provides me with a viable platform to accomplish this. In my case, I regard playing an active role in the restoration of the social functioning capacity of groups or individual persons a personal calling. That is what gives me the greatest feeling of self-fulfillment. It can be noted that some individuals are called to serve their countries as doctors, police officers, teachers etc. In their own special way, they impact positively on the lives of others be it in the enhancement of security, knowledge or even the health and well being of others. I believe my calling is to serve the community and by…
Pathologists are often called 'the doctor's doctor ' -- when other doctors are experiencing an impasse, they go to a pathologist for advice, to provide clarity. As someone who has always enjoyed working as a teacher and preparing teaching materials, I look forward to this role in relation to my fellow physicians.
pon arriving in the nited States to practice medicine, I gained experience in the field of pathology-related research, collecting data about survival rates of patients with colorectal cancer and inflammatory bowel disease. I came to learn how pathology touches all fields of medicine. Even in my work with patients suffering substance abuse and psychiatric problems, I saw how the progression of the addiction created a pathology in terms of the way that the body responded to the patient's negative behaviors. I hope that this residency program will expose me to the laboratory and clinical aspects of the field,…

From birth to death, I have seen the many varied states the human body can take in health and illness. My desire to engage in a pathology rotation is based upon these past, formative experiences and my desire to place this diversity within the uniquely helpful paradigms particular the discipline. By the end of the residency I know I shall not have realized my goal of becoming a 'doctor's doctor' but I am eager to enter upon the path and begin this lifelong journey.

My work as a research assistant in a cognitive psychology lab added to my theoretical knowledge by giving me practical experience in encoding and analyzing data. This experience provided me with the opportunity to use analytical tests and interpret statistical data. Bookkeeping of participants' demographic information also further developed my organizational skills. Having been a research assistant, I have gained a reasonable understanding of research design and the statistics needed to conduct research. For my senior major project, I wrote a research paper on an empirical study that investigated the role of change detection in studies of visual attention in the field of cognitive psychology. This paper was awarded the Sharon Borine award for the best major project in Psychology because of its successful presentation of research and adherence to American Psychology Association guidelines. I strongly believe my research experience will help me attain success in conducting graduate research as…
The Japanese man may fail to make eye contact, mumble his responses, and stand far away from his negotiating opposite, while, in frustration with this apparent diffidence, the Lebanese man may raise his voice, lean across the table, nod vigorously, do anything to raise the energy level of the room, potentially intimidate his opponent, but simply look weak because of his force and high level of animation. The plethora of courses in cross cultural communications show there is a need for future original study and analysis in this area, but it is an area that has not been addressed, except in passing, or in brackets, as of yet.
Describe what you envision as your own contributions to knowledge in these areas.

Moreover, it stresses for the need for effective, clear communication for lawyers, as is underlined by its requirement for all first year students to take a legal communication course. This acknowledges another reality of the legal field -- as legal language becomes increasingly arcane and obfuscating, lawyers must strive to express themselves with greater rather than less clarity.
While many law schools offer moot court competitions, few other schools stress teamwork and negotiating skills to the same degree as Northwestern -- and often the conference room and the bargaining table are the true proving grounds of an attorney today. The lawyer as problem solver, to use the title of the seminar offered to incoming students, rather than the lawyer a stirrer up of already muddy legal waters is the core of the Northwestern approach. I seek to embrace this as a student and later as a lawyer.

Successful completion of the Masters program in Health Care Management would mark a significant step forward in my plans for personal and professional development, providing the necessary education, experience, and qualifications to pursue a more advanced and meaningful career in health care management, perhaps as a nurse administrator. My practical and academic experience to this point have been devoted to the non-administrative aspects of providing nursing care to patients in a variety of settings, both within my native Thailand and in me relatively brief but very meaningful time in the United States, and while I am immensely proud of the work I have accomplished as a nurse practitioner I believe that a career in health care management will provide me with an opportunity to ensure that more people receive better quality care. It is for the ultimate purpose of helping to shape global healthcare provision in a manner…

As rewarding as that experience was, not all of my work at the adoption agency was as satisfying. Most people understand that any adoption process -- especially when it occurs internationally -- is a long and complicated process that must deal with significant layers of bureaucracy. Success is, unfortunately, not necessarily guaranteed. But when adopting families are only a few weeks away from receiving their new children, we all begin to assume that adoptions will go through and we will have helped create many new families. Thus, it was especially devastating for all of us at the agency, not to mention the families involved, when two weeks before a new batch of Chinese children was meant to arrive, the Chinese government decided against letting the children leave the country. In hindsight, the reasons are unimportant; no rational explanation could have assuaged the grief of the families who had expectantly and…
My first interest is to work at a battering intervention and prevention program through a battered women's shelter. This position would allow me to educate the public, by discussing battering in various situations and helping reach target populations where battering is not discussed or is considered normative. However, I understand that working with batterers is not simply about education; the vast majority of them have been abused, themselves, and need assistance resolving issues from their own past in order to move on and create better futures. Furthermore, childhood abuse is positively correlated to later substance and mental health issues, and I would like the skills to recognize, assess, and treat those tangential issues. Another interest that I have is working with pregnant teenagers and young mothers in a family education system. I believe that it is unfortunate that our society fails to provide its members with adequate education concerning essential…
Personal Statement for Pharmacy School
Pharmacy School is highly important to me as part of my career path, and I believe I am both personally and professionally well-qualified to attend and be successful. I have work experience in the pharmaceutical field, having worked at my aunt's pharmacy in the past. This work taught me a great deal about pharmacy as a profession, but also gave me a lot of insight about how to properly treat patients and interact with others. I consider myself more well-rounded because of the interaction I had with so many people during my time at the pharmacy. I smile frequently, consider myself a nice person, and have developed a high level of patience with people from all walks of life. In 2000, when I was 17, I came to the United States and earned my diploma from Valencia High School. Just a week later I began…

My life story thus far has not been the kind of existence most people my age have had to experience. From a very young age, I had to be the man of the family, supportive to those around me and a rock that others could rest their emotions on. When I was little, everyone who knew my father would remark how much I reminded them of him, particularly because of the blue eyes that I inherited from him. When I was eight years old, my father passed away and often it would hurt the people around me to look into my eyes. They would too often see him reflected on my face. So not only was I put into a difficult position by having lost my father, in a way I had to make up for his absence.
This taught me to be strong and to…
During times of serious fractures or illnesses of the animals, a veterinarian used to visit the ranch. I would observe and learn as much as I can to know how to: set fractures, assist in performing surgeries along with helping to euthanize the animals that were unable to be treated. As these different elements are an important part of what: a veterinarian has to do on the job. In some cases, veterinarians used to come to the ranch, to consult with the owner about various issues related to: the feeding, breeding, housing and other issues surrounding the animals. All of this would help to give me more experience in: working with animals and diagnosing various problems that are affecting them. At which point, I could help to give them comfort and ensure that they were treated humanely.
As a result, life on the ranch transformed me into a completely independent…
Children should have the values of what they learn in the school curriculum reinforced on the field. The spatial relations and kinesthetic knowledge required to throw a ball touches upon what students learn in science; the ethics of sports figures and steroid use are addressed in social studies; the philosophical and spiritual importance of sports is discussed in great literature. Students can even have math skills reinforced by keeping track of team statistics. Learning about technology, such as how to use the web to engage in research, can easily be reinforced as children look up new sports drills, or even simply follow the careers of inspirational athletes who have values of which a coach, parent, and child can be proud.
Above all, I believe in student-centered learning. The experiences that the child remembers are those that he or she learns hands-on. The playing field and practice field are great teachers:…

The world of dentistry today is particularly exciting because of the new technological improvements the profession has witnessed in recent years. As a child, I remember seeing an elderly friend of my grandmother put her dentures in a glass for cleaning. Now such uncomfortable equipment is almost unheard of, in a world of dental implants. The sophistication of x-rays to detect dental problems in their earliest stages has increased exponentially.
In my view, and what I would like to contribute to the profession personally in my future work as a dentist, is the ability of dentists to encourage patients to engage in preventative care. Dentists have a uniquely privileged position as health care providers in that they frequently treat patients of all ages. They can advise the tiniest children to take better care of their teeth by brushing and flossing every day. They can help adolescents avoid junk food and…

If you laid all of the lawyers in the world, end to end, on the equator - It would be a good idea to just leave them there. -Unknown
Ah yes, the lawyer -- the bane of civilized society as we know it -- the definition of self serving duplicity, concerned with the almighty dollar far more than facilitating the wheels of justice in their ever-toiling task. Indeed, the lawyer has come to represent all that is wrong in American society, from dishonesty to abject greed.
Even for my mother, kind hearted and trusting as she is, a visit to an attorney, or worse, a visit from an attorney, was cause for significant distress, distrust, and outright fear -- after all, she hardly had good experiences with the her attorney.
Again and again, as parents will often do, my mother would tell my sister and I…
There are people who feel confident because they are wealthy or beautiful. But when it comes from within, from a place inside you that has grown with experience and some hard work, then it gives you a kind of security which doesn't need attitude at all. When I was a young person in a new school, things were not always positive for me. I couldn't speak the same language as everyone else and felt uncomfortable. Because of this, I often appeared silly or clumsy because I lacked confidence. It took me a good four to five years to finally reach a place where I felt comfortable with myself. But it wasn't until much later that I fully found the confidence in myself that I needed so badly.
But I am glad I worked on and for it. It was the constant working toward a goal that helped me be a…
Also, my background will allow for a unique viewpoint, as I was raised in Turkey and am fluent in French and English. My academic successes and leadership roles include serving as president of the honor board in my Turkish high school, while also representing the students on the school's disciplinary committee. Thus, my academic interests are founded in the industries if engineering and construction, while also focusing on the importance of economics, commerce, and sociology in these areas.
In addition to my academic interests, my real-life experience and future career goals have prepared me for this program. The most relevant work experience that I have had thus far was my internship at Frank Williams and Partner Architects in New York. After spending eight weeks as an intern for this firm, which is a respected name in the industry, not only had the know-how, but also the tools to continue in…
Throughout my academic career so far, I have taken every advantage to intern with and volunteer at various dental offices to get an idea of all aspects of the profession, from the everyday running of the office to crowns and bridges. Shadowing other dentists has only inspired me to pursue this line of work even more, and I want to be able to deliver the best services possible. I have researched many dental academies and feel drawn to this one more than any other because of the opportunity to work in a state-of -- the art facility, using cutting edge technology and receiving guidance from the best educators in the field.
I will participate fully in the program, contributing to research, volunteering whenever possible, and being open to new techniques of the trade. Furthermore, your school provides one of the most balanced dental curricula that I have run across, for…
Personal Statement Application for the Nurse Practitioner Program at UCSF
I first experienced the duties of a nurse practitioner in WHATEVER, a small mountain village in Nepal.
From 1996-1998, I worked as a Community Health Volunteer with the American Peace Corps. During those two years, I worked with Nepalese women and children, teaching classes on first aid, family planning and nutrition. I also organized immunization clinics, ran a health library, and conducted community needs assessments.
I have always found great fulfillment in healthcare and in being part of people's recoveries. For this reason, I majored in Kinesiology and Biology at the University of Minnesota, even working towards an application to the Physician Assistant program during my last two years. After graduation, I worked as a nursing assistant.
Since then, I have also gained greater familiarity with pharmaceuticals and the managed healthcare system in my present work with the Daiichi Corporation.…
Personal Statement
I believe that education is the prime catalyst for the development and improvement of humanity. Education has been responsible for all the innovations and growth areas in humanity over our years of evolution. For this reason, the doctoral program I am seeking will help me build up my experience and enhance my knowledge. With the tools I gain in this way, I can then go into the world and effect the changes I perceive as necessary to make life and the world better for humanity as a whole. I believe that Pepperdine University has one of the best programs I can desire to fulfill my current educational and future professional needs.
My current background constitutes an MBA, along with six years of experience in administration work. My field of work was a private university, where I learned the many intricate details of business administration for this specific environment.…
As I have expanded my work efforts at the hospital, I have realized more and more that the human element in such relationships is irreplaceable. While technology may shape the future of the human race, only humanity can touch individual lives. Even the greatest advances in medical knowledge and techniques require similar progress in healthcare accessibility, better education about health issues, and strong doctor-patient relationships. Spending time watching the doctors and talking to patients convinced me that, in addition to my research in technology, I wanted to work directly with people who are in need of help.
I am excited to be back on my original path towards medicine, and am confident that my computer science skills will add much value as I research medical technology. My work at the hospital has shown me that there is much room for improvement in the medical industry, particularly when it comes to…
" And especially for young people, being "normal" and "cool" seems to be what self-esteem is all about. How can we risk giving that up by standing up for ourselves? How can we maintain a sense of self-worth in the eyes of the world, as well as in the eyes of God? And how do we know for sure what He wants for us?
I guess it's a matter of intuition; I guess you know based on how happy you truly are. If you're excited to face every day, without any help from any sort of addiction, then I would argue you're officially happy. And if you're genuinely happy, you must be honoring your authentic self and God's dreams for you.
This is an exhilarating prospect for me because I'm just beginning to learn who I really am. But I need to be prepared for the risks and the difficulties.…
The feeling that I was cut out for this role of a pharmacist came when I was fascinated in the chemistry classes about the medications, and the origin of bio-medicals. My fascination and the interaction with the patients where I work have made me known and liked in the current place of work. That would take this argument to the work experience and qualifications.
3. I am now a student for the masters in biomedical science at Midwestern University. Earlier qualifications include a bachelor's degree in computer engineering from Iraq in 2004. I also have completed the pre-pharmacy courses. Thus I have had a strong academic background. Further along with my academic background, I have had working experience as a pharmacy technician. I have found pleasure in working for the Walgreen's Pharmacy for three years as a pharmacy technician. Working with the employer namely Walgreen's allowed me to develop skills…

Understanding how to brand one's product or service, and knowing what makes a consumer buy a particular item or choose a particular service is essential for entering all types of commerce.
Another personal reason I seek to master in marketing is that I feel the current degree I am pursuing in economics is simply more of the same, in terms of my undergraduate concentration. While the work is interesting, it offers too much overlap with the financial perspective of accounting. In addition, it approaches the science of consumer demand from a very numbers-focused, data-driven perspective. I am often frustrated with the perspective taken of so-called Economic Man who always makes ideal decisions, based upon his knowledge of the market. Even in my real life as an accountant at a small tax firm I observe people's personal financial decisions and how they relate to budgeting and the tax code. Thus I…
(Quite recently, she recently passed away, and the loss has been devastating to me and my family. To give tribute to her memory, I continue to press on in my work, and hope that my eventual degree will be a lasting credit to her memory).
The method of teaching in America was very different than what I had experienced in Bangladesh. In Bangladesh, students listen and take notes, and accept what the teacher says as the gospel truth. In America, students are encouraged to argue and debate with the professor, and if they do not they are regarded as less engaged with the material. In my eyes, the attitudes of my American colleagues seemed startling and challenging.
A far higher level of personal independence was expected in America than in Bangladesh. Students were encouraged to select their classes with relatively little assistance. Because of the large nature of UTA, there…
Other essential traits include a commitment to work cooperatively with others and the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing."
We were also told that speech-language pathologists ought to exhibit:
sensitivity and concern for the problems of other people; warmth, caring and empathy for people; the need to help others realize their potential; the ability to accept new ideas; and the willingness to do research and to contribute new information.
Did this sound like me? I certainly think so, otherwise the aforementioned "deeper forces of nature" probably wouldn't have assured me that I was pursuing not only a fulfilling journey, but also the correct one, too.
Looking back, I realize that I reached a turning point in my education when I was able to participate in clinical observations. I observed patients with voice disorders. I observed patients who stammered and stuttered. I observed patients with foreign accents so…

During my third year of my undergraduate studies in mathematics I was struggling to stay attentive to my required courses. Although I deeply enjoy mathematics and mathematics theory, I was finding that much of my academic time was being spent studying theories and abstract material. I also found that I couldn't discuss my work with many of my friends outside of my major because the topics were not relatable. After experience some deep frustration during my first term, I enrolled in an Operations Research course and from the first day of class, and I enjoyed the course material and the very practical mathematics applications we discussed and read about. I began learning about topics that connected mathematical analysis to concrete issues in the financial and technology industries, and for the first time I saw how my coursework related to many current events. My near-perfect grade in the course…
My parents determined that I should go to the United States, because they felt that the U.S. provided a more sophisticated and forward-looking business administrative education. My father was quite successful in China as a businessman, but he believed that the world was changing, and that it was essential that his child have some grounding in the new economic reality of the global marketplace to become equally successful. He also felt that China's view of the international marketplace was not as sophisticated as America's, and that an aspiring entrepreneur could gain much from learning about the American perspective and system of management.
During my father's lifetime, he saw capitalism take root in his home country, altering China for the better. China, through fits and starts, became freer, more open to new ideas and ways of life, more prosperous, and more tolerant of different ways of looking at the world. Through…
Insomuch, I have worked closely with customers on a myriad of issues to ensure their needs were met. Such concern for my constituents has transcended to an elevated level of service for individuals in the healthcare field.
Additional Information for Consideration
Although I may not be a traditional candidate, I have always worked hard to attain my goals. egardless if goals seemed to be unreachable, I have always persevered in the most trying of conditions. Pierce (2003) defines nursing quite well, "Nursing is the protection, promotion, and optimization of health and abilities, the prevention of illness and injury, and the alleviation of suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of human response and advocacy in the care of individuals families, communities, and populations. Moreover, nursing addresses the organizational, social, economic, legal, and political factors within the healthcare system and society. These and other factors affect the cost, access, and quality of…

Like many teenagers would, my beliefs swung radically in the other direction. While I had no intention of parting with my gemstones, because the harm done in the mining of them could not be undone, I decided to stop collecting them. I began to speak out about alternatives, and even chastised a cousin who chose diamond instead of a synthetic jewel for his fiance's engagement ring. I gave a presentation to my high school about the detriments of the jewelry industry and considered lobbying to enact stricter laws about gems and rare metal imports, so that any products would be certified fair labor and fair trade complaint.
However, that attitude could not last long. The more research I did, the more ambiguous the situation became. Yes, the circumstances in mines are horrible, and I would never want anyone in my family exposed to them. However, my family does not live…
Given my experiences at Chinatown Teen Post and Blue Phone Wireless, I am very excited about my future prospects in management. Academic skills are valuable for learning business operations, but real-world experience adds missing ingredients needed to fully understand success such as knowing how valuable personal happiness, social responsibility and customer satisfaction really are. I am eager to contribute my wisdom and leadership to the business community after receiving formal business training at the University of California.
I believe that the most important contribution I can bring to the University of California is my great respect for all individuals. Many people assume characteristics and create an image of a person they don't even know. As humans we tend to judge people very quickly based on their sex, race, ethnicity or social class. And, we love to judge people according to their image because it means so much in our society…
Combined with my aptitude in biology, chemistry, and calculus, I resolved to return to school and get my nursing degree.
I am about to embark upon a new chapter and a new experiment in my life, far more daring than any of the risks I took in my business career. However, I think there will be a great deal of cross-over of skills between my past and current profession. The long hours, attention to others at the occasional expense of my own needs, and the relentless drive for quality improvement and improving my own abilities were relevant in business and will remain important in the field of nursing. Moreover, the business knowledge that was so helpful to me in my former career can also be translated into a nursing career. Nurses are more encouraged than ever to look over their work with a critical eye to cost-cutting, efficiency and waste…

Since 1874, Purdue University has garnered a reputation of high academic integrity and achievement. Pursuing an education at Purdue University has always been a dream. Since completing my high school education in 2011, I felt that my purpose was to make a difference in the lives of others. With such a challenging childhood, my desire to persevere is fueled by circumstances. Such life events have yielded a strong desire to learn more and to give more. Furthering my education builds upon knowledge and experience by teaching important leadership skills necessary for today's complex workplace. Insomuch, a quality education will help achieve personal and professional goals that may add value by enriching the lives of others.
Reason for Pursuit
My mother who had her personal life's challenges precipitates my higher educational pursuit. Perhaps her sorrow fueled her alcoholism. During one particularly bad incident, after I rushed to the drugstore…

The art of governance has been in existence since the Declaration of Independence but in my opinion, it has been the efforts and struggles of the legal bodies without political affiliation that have perfected the American Justice Department. These bodies effectively framed our Bill of Rights and our Articles of Confederation for governance and most of all they secured the general public's trust by setting up the American Constitution. Throughout history professionals from the field of law have demonstrated great dedication to public services causing various others and I, to admire their zealous efforts. Even today, despite leaving behind much of the idealism of my youth, I feel they are the ones who coalesce between society and the law.
It is schools like John arshall Law with a century and more of academic history that have presented to society pioneers in the field of law who have the…
My endeavor throughout my academic and professional experience has been to create awareness of civil rights violation. In March 2002 I was promoted to project coordinator and thus, further able to explore and cater to community outreach by encouraging people to take part in community activism.
While studying at... I am still a member of the ACLU club on campus, regularly planing group activism events for the students albeit on a restricted scale because of my busy schedules. In my quest to combine academics and my mission towards public service, I have discovered John Marshall Law School's Fair Housing Clinic - an ideal program.
In my opinion, by participating in Federal and State court litigation, administrative proceedings and through the acquisition of knowledge in fair housing law, I would be more equipped in preparing cases for my clients. Thus, I feel a degree from John Marshall Law School would ideally enable me to achieve my career goals as well as fulfill my aspiration to become part of a monumental institution of American heritage that serves the public.
The process was also significant for me because it showed that it was possible to spread wealth from a highly centralized location (the corporation) to a more widespread and evenly distributed location (my financially struggling high school).
Tell us about a personal quality, talent, accomplishment, contribution or experience that is important to you. What about this quality or accomplishment makes you proud, and how does it relate to the person you are?
I believe that my greatest quality is perseverance. History is often told to us as the chronicle of great people doing great things, and while these stories are important, the majority of us experience life through smaller moments. It is the small choices and the small decisions that add up over time to create our life as a patchwork of these choices. Our choices and decisions define who we become, and ultimately it is the sum of all…
By understanding the political systems better, I can better understand the role of the policymakers. One day, I aspire to be a policymaker myself. It has been said that a good doctor can save 100 people but a bad policymaker can destroy the lives of thousands. Given that in my country, few study Political Science, I feel that my studies in the subject can help me to be the sort of good policymaker we need.
2. I feel that life is full of accomplishments which, when added up, can amount to a tremendous benefit to society. I am not able to work in the United States due to the terms of my student visa, but I am proud of my accomplishments in Hong Kong. I help my family business when I am at home. We are in the plastic recycling business and I have helped at all levels. Even based…
