Effective corporate ethics programs and federal sentencing guidelines compliance
The importance of a code of ethics for any organization cannot be under estimated. Ethical values are just as important to an auto company as it is to a rug manufacturer. When it comes to journalism and newspapers, a code of ethics is vital because the public must come to trust what it reads; if the newspaper is not believable, credibility will suffer, and so will circulation.

Employee privacy torts and legal implications
This dissertation is about employee privacy torts. The age of technology has brought various social dilemmas to the forefront and invasion of privacy of employees at workplace is a significant one to mention. Gaining access to private and sensitive information of an individual by the employer is typically referred to the invasion of privacy. However, rules, acts and guidelines have been developed by the legislation of the United States to protect the privacy rights of the employees, but this aspect has not been widely expressed. Employee privacy in the workplace has been observed as relatively new emerging areas of concern in the modern world that has been highlighted from various historical events and occurrences. The advocates unequivocally declare that they should be leveraged with the privacy rights in order to be protective and competent. However, potential conflicts have occurred with respect to the privacy, as the employers have initiated to monitor the activities of the employees. The innovative technology, the rapidly increasing use of social media and the changing trends of the society are the leading components that have augmented the issue to paramount heights. In response to alleviate the intensity of the issue, legislative bodies have developed various laws to protect the invasion of employee privacy that include Electronic Communication Privacy Act. Moreover, various Supreme Court decisions in favor to the privacy rights conclude that this grave concern has been recognized as fundamental to the current society, even though the legislations do not explicitly assure the right to employee privacy at workplace. Few recommendations are provided for the employers that would facilitate them in developing policies considering the employee privacy with gravity in order to ensure that they do not run afoul of the law. Future implications of employee privacy have also been precisely discussed.

Diary Entry of Early Urban Dweller
Today, I witnessed the hanging of the Irish witch, Goodwife Ann Glover, and it inspired in me a desire for closer-self-examination and reflection on my relationship with God, my family and the community of saints here in New England. Goodwife Glover was a woman with an evil reputation who had been sold into slavery in the West Indies with her husband, and he had been put to death there for refusing to renounce his Catholic faith, which of course is all Papist superstition and idolatry. She was accused of bewitching the family of Mr. John Goodwin of Boston, a sober and well-respected citizen of this city, after she and her daughter had been caught stealing from the household. She

Language use patterns and applications
We are often advised as college students to write our papers in "standard academic English." If we are putting together a resume or drafting a formal letter, we are expected to use "standard English" as well. In our daily speech patterns in formal situations, our parents or mentors have at some point encouraged us to use "proper" English in order to reflect well on ourselves and our education and background (and on them, of course). But what, exactly, is "standard" English? Who gets to decide? Must it be grammatically perfect? Are long, multi-syllabic words more effective than short, simple ones?

Television/Smarter Watching TV Makes You Smarter --
Author Steven Johnson argues that watching today's television shows, because they contain multiple threads of plot and fast-paced dialogue, are good for the brain because they make greater demands on cognitive processes. Writer Gina Bellafonte argues that the program "24" portrays aberrant family relationships as normal. There is no disputing that the influence of television is powerful in today's world. There is debate about whether television creates culture, or is a reflection of it.
