Nosocomial infections are reported to the National Nosocomial Infection Surveillance (NNIS) system, which is managed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention of Healthcare Quality, which was established in the 1970s for monitoring the incidence of nosocomial infections along with the responsible pathogens and the associated risk factors. These facts along with the other information garnered in this study will serve to assist the professional development of this writer and as well, the practice in researching a medical condition will also assist the writer's professional development.
