This paper examines the Reserve Personnel Services Division of the larger Personnel Service Center of the U.S. Coast Guard in regards to some of the greater themes we've looked at throughout this course. Examining specifically the realm of officers evaluation, one can see how factors like technology, culture and ethics manifest in the present and pass through cultural norms, behavior and predicted behavior.

The paper looks at the concept of labeling theory as an explanation to deviance in the society. It describes what this theory is and the approach that is required of it, the treatment that it has been given by various scholars over the years and the various definitions that exist from behaviorists over the same.

The beauty pageant industry in general has evolved into a freak show where the young girls have spray tans, wear flippers (false teeth to hide baby teeth), hair extensions, makeup, fake eyelashes and many other tricks to make them appear older and more sexual (way before puberty has emerged for these girls). Childhood beauty pageants should be banned because they cause psychological problems, it sexualizes children, and they cause a financial drain on families. This paper argues against the DARE program and points out how ineffective it is, maybe even counterproductive. Many of these differences occurred at cutoff points on the assessment scales for which post hoc meaningful labels were created. Therefore the different methods used to interpret data reasonably account for the differences that have been found over the years. Although it is hard to prove conclusively that the D.A.R.E. program is completely ineffective or even counterproductive, there is sufficient evidence to suggest that the use of public funding could be better spent in other ventures.

The paper is based on personality theories and concentrates on behaviorists and their explanation of personalities. It looks at the main claims put forth by these theories and also examines the central contributions of various theorists in the particular fields that are related to behavior. It also looks at the weaknesses of these theories.

Abstract The rising rates of obesity in Australia have been a thorn in the flesh for the federal government, the civil society, and other stakeholders alike. The country currently ranks fourth in the world, with an obese population that exceeds a quarter of the total. Various stakeholders have devised policies and strategies aimed at curbing the spread of obesity and overweight. This text explores one such strategy – the government’s ‘fat tax’ proposal. It examines the arguments both for, and against the proposal, from an Australian Medical Association (AMA) point of view, and gives a personal stand on the same.
