The care of patients with brain injury and diseases has improved substantially over the last thirty years. Though all 4 are addressed by The Human Research and Educational Trust (HRET), the two areas of Quality and Safety and Leadership and Governance were chosen for this paper. HRET has significantly impacted both those areas. "Quality and Safety" has been addressed by no fewer than 15 HRET studies, many of which address disparities in health care based on race, ethnicity and primary language, as well as "applied research" projects that may be used by health care providers to constantly improve patient safety. HRET has exerted a strong impact in that area by providing "thought leaders" on U.S. advisory panels, by training health care providers for collection and use of patient data and "pathway tools" used by health care providers. The area of "Leadership and Governance" has been addressed by HRET through surveys and unification of health care CEOs, safety leaders and safety teams throughout the national industry, as well as its Health Services Research journal. HRET has impacted this area as the "research affiliate" of the American Hospital Associations Center for Healthcare Governance and by providing surveys presented at every AHA Center educational meeting for the Blue ribbon Panel on Health Care Governance. Recognizing the importance of leadership, knowledge and the combined intelligence of U.S. Health Care industry leaders, HRET has strongly affected and improved our national health care.

A variety of alternative medicines and therapies have been becoming popular in mainstream western culture. Communicable Disease - HIV The early history of HIV was a story of misunderstanding, governmental neglect, suffering and death. However, through the efforts of medical professionals and activists, global and national understanding, funding, research and patient support have grown considerably in the decades since HIV was first identified. Despite the developments, HIV remains a significant health issue, currently affecting approximately 33.3 million people living with HIV worldwide and 1.1+ million people living with HIV in the United States. Consequently, federal, state and local programs are focused on decreasing and ultimately eliminating HIV/AIDS through education, testing, increased access to high quality medical care and preventive measures. In this context, a nurse's role in education and prevention stems from his/her core value of becoming a knowledgeable, effective advocate for the highest attainable quality of patient care. Nurses can support this core value by becoming educated about HIV-related issues, making his/her voice heard and forming an alliance with individual patients to educate, treat and enhancing preventive behaviors in patients. Clearly, the medical community, including but not limited to nurses, perform vital functions for the reduction and ultimate elimination of HIV/AIDS. Finally, numerous community programs, organizations and support groups exist, for example in San Francisco, to enhance the lives of people living with HIV/AIDS and their families. As research shows, the history of HIV/AIDS has developed from a story of undertreated devastation to a concerted and aggressive effort to contain, treat, prevent and ultimately eliminate HIV/AIDS.

Given the increased needs of the population and the need to offer quality services, Grand Hospitals utilizes health care information systems to provide key services among them EMRs, patient registration, revenue management, imaging services to mention but a few. With respect to the mentioned areas, Grand needs qualified and appropriately credentialed practitioners to work on 24 hours per day, 7 days a week

The broader theoretical treatment of the study of sexuality has long been recognized in the fields of linguistic anthropology and sociolinguistics.
