Cultural Tour of the National Gallery of Art, Washington DC
Andrew William Mellon, an art collector and investor hailing from Pittsburgh, designed and presented Washington's famed National Gallery of Art to American citizens. Mellon came to the U.S. capital in the year 1921 and took up the post of U.S. "Secretary of the Treasury." He felt the nation ought to have an art gallery just like other major States. Consequently, in the year 1936, he contacted President Roosevelt and offered to contribute his splendid art collection to a new national museum, which he proposed he would construct using his personal funds. Hence, with Congressional and Presidential support, the Washington National Gallery of Art was opened in March of 1937 (National Gallery of Art, 2016).

I undertook a virtual visit to Washington, DC's National Gallery of Art on September 4, 2016 at approximately 11:30am. The gallery's entryway is massive, and….

Emergency Planning: Washington, DC
Emergency planning entails planning carefully for every type of hazard that may affect a particular area. It involves forecasting and developing a plan to deal with natural, manmade and technological disasters.

Washington, DC's emergency planning has of course changed entirely since September 11, 2001. The terrorist attacks that left the entire country stunned and scarred had a particularly strong impact on Washington, DC. The center of America's political structure and a strong financial base, Washington continues to be a prime target for terrorists, one that will always be on a "short-list," so to speak, of cities that may yet again have to endure a terrorist attack of mammoth proportions.

One of the primary concerns for Washington, DC emergency planners is Reagan National Airport. The airport is so close to the most important landmarks and population centers in downtown Northwest Washington, DC, that it poses a continual threat. The reaction….

There are countless civic organizations and community services throughout the city, including Agency for International Development, American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association, American Muslim Council,

American Running Association, D.C. Travel & Social Club, Friends of Sri Lanka in the U.S., National Conference of State Societies, Human Rights Campaign,

National Genealogical Society, The National Genealogical Society, National Rifle Association, People For the American ay, St. John's Community Service's ArtView, and The Childrens Foundation (D.C.)

Despite the racial diversity and richness of culture, the ashington, D.C. area seems to be plagued with racial problems. The media are filled with news reports and editorials concerning the discrimination against African-Americans. In particular at issue are numerous accounts of racial profiling by law enforcement. Moreover, in recent years there has been much media discussion concerning discrimination against minorities among home-finance companies.

And even Mayor illiams's office has been forced to deal with racial slurs from his staff (Clemetson).

A sixty-eight-year-old African-American….

Leadership Characteristic
George Washington is one of the most well-known figures in the history of United States of America. His finest qualities are everlasting and have need of modest explanation. Not only Washington was a man of incredible uprightness and audacity but he was also a staunch believer in rendering selfless service to the country he was the founder of. His inimitable leadership qualities led his contemporaries to recognize him as "The Father of His Country." Washington possessed an ingenious, consumerist and charitable nature. He ascertained the maximum principles over and over again for his own dealings and hardly ever disappointed others. To cut a long story short, George Washington made it obvious that the individuals of character are enough to manage governments and lead armies in the most excellent manner ("Exploring George Washington's Leadership").

However, as far as my opinion is concerned, I think that Washington's high moral character as a….

Abstract This paper compares and contrasts the school funding approaches of the state of Illinois and the District of Columbia. It shows that in Illinois there is a far greater problem of how to achieve a more equitable distribution of funds, though the state is currently setting a course to try to make this happen with its evidence-based model funding formula recently passed this year. In DC on the other hand, a foundation formula is used to disperse funds equitably throughout the District and private investment is obtained to help develop programs that can assist in closing the achievement gap. DC is thus better structured and its school funding approach better supported to achieve success over the long run.

The National MallThe National Mall is a setting that truly captures the soul and grandeur of American exceptionalism. Aesthetically speaking, it boasts cherry blossoms in the spring that add a splash of color. Summer brings green lawns filled with visitors; autumn has its own reflective beauty with that gives the scene a refined and noble character; and winter, too, covers the mall in a quiet chill, with frost and snow. Each season adds something to the experience of the Mall for its many visitors year round. But the Mall is even more than its aesthetics: it has physicality, social meaning, and political and cultural significance, too.Physical AspectsThe National Mall stretches from the Capitol to the Lincoln Memorial, and its landscape consists of immense monumental significancereflected in its vast open spaces, lined with American elms, and in the structures within and around itlike the eflecting Pool that it frames. It gives….

Flight crew resource management is the science of training flight crews to interact and communicate in a highly authoritarian environment while at the same time making use of the intelligence and professional resources of all the members of a flight crew. In the cockpit, the captain is in unquestionable control of the airplane because he is ultimately responsible for all aspects of the flight, including hardware, equipment and personnel on board. However, Each member of the crew can make important contributions, especially during in flight crises, and their input can be thwarted because of the highly authoritarian command culture. This paper examines the issues of fright crew resource management, and seeks to expand the definition of crew resource management to include personal communication style in order to further facilitate professional, accurate and open communication between the flight staff and commander.

Business Acumen
here are many different things that I have done in my career that relate to business acumen. One of these came fairly recently, in July of 2004, when I was asked to plan and execute a dedication ceremony that involved the opening of a Veterans Conference Room in Washington, DC. he auditorium at the VA Headquarters was renovated for this purpose. I was given three months to pull this together and create a program and ceremony that was worthy of this event. In addition to planning this ceremony, the day-to-day activities of myself and my staff had to go on, and there were other notable events that were going on at the same time, such as awards ceremonies, the observance of Veteran's Day, and VA holiday activities. hese were all coordinated and planned during the same time that I was working to create the ceremony for the conference room.

tudents attending a NCOE course should not have to take an APFT or weigh-In upon arrival -- these are unit level tasks that need to be completed before reporting
NCOE and physical fitness/weight control testing responsibilities

Unit level leaders have an inherent responsibility to maintain and manage oldiers physical fitness and weight control standards; therefore, we must hold these leaders accountable for the execution of these tasks.

The purpose of the NCO as established throughout its history from the very beginning was focus on leadership roles. As the history of the NCEO, the educational component of the NCO shows, academic instruction was a requirement of the program -- the NCEO was indeed established with that in mind, and it has been only recently that hands-n components have been added in order to bring the NCEO into line with the 21st century and as response to the 2001 terrorist scare.

Nonetheless, the focus on leadership….

September 11 Response
PAGES 3 WORDS 1050

terrorist attacks of September 11th 2001 as well as several previous acts of domestic and international terrorism sparked responses from nearly every civic agency in the United States. Each and every agency across the nation was called to action both immediately with temporary changes and in the long-term with fundamental legal and policy actions that are believed to aid in the future response to disasters of both the man-made kind and natural (Glendening, 2002, p. 21). Maryland is poised in a position where challenges are inherent due in part to its close proximity to Washington DC, with Maryland surrounding two thirds of Washington DC, and because of some of the fundamentally high risk target sites within it, such as a nuclear facility and its own World Trade Center in Baltimore, long and sparsely controlled coastlines, just to name a few (21). "Maryland is home to many important federal installations,….

European Union a state, or what else distinguishes it from other International Organizations
The primary question concerning global organizations as a medium of global governance relates towards the quantity and excellence of this governance within an era where we now have an overdeveloped global economy as well as an under-developed global polity (Ougaard and Higgott, 2002). There's a powerful disconnect amid governance, being an efficient and effective collective solution-seeking process within a given problem-area, and governance being the democratic legitimacy of policy formation. It has made possible the debate regarding 'legitimacy shortfalls' in main global organizations. Furthermore, governance has turned into a hosting analogy determining non-traditional performers (non-condition performers for example NGOs and their local and international associations) that participate as portable agents extending and expanding policy understanding, which is far more advanced and sophisticated than the traditional, elitist, government activities. The interest in global (as well as the regional)….
