Business Case Analysis Suppose you are an HR manager at a company that needs to fill an important management position. In what situations would a candidate's educational background be important? In what situations would a candidate's track record as a manager or leader be important?

A candidates' educational background would be exceptionally important for advanced, highly technical positions involving the funds of the company. I'd want to verify a candidate for Chief Financial officer (CFO) for example had the correct credentials and had not lied on their resume if they were going to be managing the entire series of financial statements for the company. Educational credentials would also be critically important in engineering positions as well, as the core parts of a position in these fields would require intensive levels of expertise.

This skill set can be quickly verified through background checks and a 360-degree review of their previous managerial positions. Verifying the candidate's educational background and track record are equally important, especially in senior management positions.

Yes, it would matter very much to me if the candidate described his or her educational background accurately, I would only trust those who did. The lack of accuracy on their educational background would lead me to not trust them in many other areas of their stated expertise levels and areas as well.
